After a week of spending time together, John finally mustered up the courage to ask me out to dinner at my family's house. It was a nerve-wracking moment, but I could see the sincerity in his eyes as he extended the invitation.
"Hey, Elena" He started, his voice tinged with nervousness.
“I was wondering if you'd like to have dinner with me at your family's house this weekend. I'd love to meet them and spend some more time with you."
I couldn't help but smile at his sincerity, touched by his desire to get to know me better.
"I'd love that, John," I replied, my heart fluttering with his excitement to be with me more.
"I'll talk to my family and let you know the details."
As we made plans for the dinner, I couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation that filled me. This would be the first time I introduced someone new to my family since... well since everything happened with Robert. It was a big step, but I knew that John was worth it.
He's kind and handsome with brown hair and blue eyes.
After returning home and fresh up to join my family for dinner I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the conversation ahead.
Sitting down with my family at the dinner table, I cleared my throat nervously before speaking up.
“Hey, Dad, Mom,” I began, my voice slightly shaky with anticipation.
“I wanted to talk to you all about something.”
“Is everything alright honey?” My mom asked worried writing over her face.
I smiled at her interest if I was doing okay.

“Yeah, actually I've been seeing someone lately, and I was thinking of inviting him over for dinner this weekend."

My mother's eyes lit up with excitement at the news, her smile widening as she nodded eagerly.
"Of course, dear," She exclaimed. "Anyone special in your life is always welcome here.”
I felt a surge of gratitude for her unwavering support, but before I could say anything else, an idea popped into my head.
"Actually," I continued, my heart racing with nervous anticipation, "I was thinking of inviting Robert and Emma over too."
“Good idea Elena I'm proud of you that you always work to make your bond with your sister stronger.” My father smiled warmly at me.
Only if you know Dad.
I mumbled to myself as we continued our dinner.
As we finish eating my father picks my cheek goodnight.
“Goodnight, and tell your boyfriend he's welcome here after tomorrow.” He squeezed my shoulder before taking off to his bedroom.
After dinner, and cleaning the plate I excused myself from my mother. She's been asking me a hundred questions about John. I felt a mixture of nerves and determination as I retrieved my phone from the living room. With trembling fingers, I dialed Emma's number, my heart pounding in my chest as I waited for her to pick up.

"Hello?" Her voice echoed through the line, tinged with curiosity.
"Hey, Emma," I said, trying to keep my tone casual despite the butterflies in my stomach.
“I was just wondering if you and Robert would be free to come over for dinner after tomorrow night? I'm planning something special, and I'd love for you both to be there."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and I held my breath, waiting anxiously for her response.

"Sure, Elena," Emma said finally, her voice warm with enthusiasm. "We'd love to come. What's the occasion?"

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. I want to be the first one who see Robert, facial expression when he found out that I was moving on.
“Oh, you know," I replied evasively. "Just thought it would be nice to have a little get-together. I'll fill you in on the details after tomorrow night at dinner."

Emma seemed satisfied with my answer, and we said our goodbyes before hanging up. As I set my phone down on the table, a sense of anticipation washed over me. After tomorrow night would be the beginning of something new, something exciting. However, I couldn't wait to see where it would lead.
Of course, and what Robert reaction going to be.

When the day of the dinner arrived, I made sure everything was perfect. I dressed carefully, with a minty green sleeveless dress with silver heels to make a good impression on both John and my family.
To be honest, with myself and Robert.

As the doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of our guests, I felt a rush of nerves wash over me. With a deep breath, I hurried to answer it, my heart pounding in my chest as I swung open the door.
Emma and Robert stood on the doorstep, smiles brightening their faces as they greeted me.
"Hey, Elena," Emma said, her voice warm with affection. "Thanks for inviting us over."
“Hey, Elena you look beautiful tonight.” Robert nodded glancing over my body, but before I could respond, another figure appeared behind them, causing my breath to catch in my throat. John stood there, a sheepish smile on his face as he shifted nervously from foot to foot.
"Hey, Elena," He said, his voice slightly strained as he met my gaze.
“Hey, John”
“Emma and Robert this is John. John, Emma my older sister, and her husband Robert.”
As I introduced Emma and Robert to John, I felt a mix of nerves and determination swirling inside me.
As John greeted them with a warm smile, I held my breath, watching Robert's reaction carefully. There was a flicker of surprise in his eyes, quickly masked by a polite smile. I could sense the tension in the air, the unspoken history that lingered between us.

For a moment, we all stood awkwardly in the foyer, the weight of unspoken truths hanging heavy in the air. Then, with a forced smile, Robert extended his hand to John, welcoming him into our home with strained cordiality.
“Nice to meet you, John," Robert said, his voice tight with suppressed emotion.
“I'm Robert, and this is my wife, Emma. Nice to meet you.”
I held my breath, waiting for John's response, hoping that his presence would serve as a tangible reminder to Robert that I had moved on. But as they exchanged pleasantries, the tension in the room only seemed to grow.
“Likewise, Robert.” John smiles politely.
“Please, come in” Emma waves him in winking at me.
“He's hot.” She whispered as we followed John and Robert inside, make me rolled my eyes at her.
Honestly, John is really handsome guy that he can have any girl he wants.

As we made our way to the dining room, I couldn't help the feeling of unease that gnawed at my insides. I stole a glance at Robert, searching for any sign of emotion in his expression, but his face remained carefully neutral.

As we sat down to dinner, the tension in the room seemed to ease slightly as conversation flowed more naturally. John, ever the charmer, engaged my family with his easygoing demeanor and quick wit.
"So, John, how did you and my sister meet?" Emma asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
John chuckled, glancing at me fondly.
"Well, we actually met at a coffee shop," He began, his voice warm with affection. "I was standing in line, trying to decide between a latte and a cappuccino, when Lola came up and recommended the latte. I guess you could say it was love at first sip."

My cheeks flushed at his words, but I couldn't help but smile at the memory.
"I just couldn't let him make the wrong choice," I joked, earning a round of laughter from the table.
"Yeah, from there I started to visit her restaurant every day to make her accept to go out with me to a date." He said smile warmly at me.
I felt guilty to use him to be my district of Robert, but I hope some day I can get to feel for him.
"Oh, dearly, Why did you make him suffer that much? He so handsome to refused his offer from the first time." My mother said with a smile.
"Thanks, but trust me she worsted the waiting." John replied rushed out to my hand and squeezing it gently.

As the evening wore on, the conversation flowed more freely, the awkwardness of earlier dissipating with each passing moment.
John regaled my family with stories from his travels, while Emma and Robert shared tales from their adventures.
After dinner we settled into the living room, and the conversation flowed effortlessly between John and my family. Emma, always the social butterfly, led the charge with her lively banter and infectious laughter.
"So, John," She began, flashing him a warm smile. "What do you do for a living?"
John chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "I'm actually a software engineer," He replied, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "I work for a tech company downtown. It's pretty demanding, but I love what I do."
"That's fascinating," Emma exclaimed, leaning forward with interest. "I've always been curious about the world of technology. What kind of projects do you work on?"
As John launched into an animated discussion about his work, I couldn't help but admire the easy rapport he had with my family. He had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and included, effortlessly drawing them into the conversation with his charm and charisma.
As the evening wore on, the conversation veered from topic to topic, touching on everything from travel to current events to favorite hobbies. John regaled my family with stories from his adventures abroad, while Emma and Robert shared anecdotes from their own travels.
Despite the underlying tension between Robert and me, I found myself relaxing in John's presence, grateful for the way he effortlessly bridged the gap between us. And as we laughed and talked late into the night, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and connection blossoming between John and my family. Perhaps, just perhaps, there was hope for a new beginning after all.
