The next morning, the sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over my bedroom. I got up and got ready for my day ahead.
I took my shower before putting on a white T-shirt with dark blue jeans shorts my outfit for today with white running shoes.
I put my hair up in a mass-up bun and used some mascara and red lipstick.
Glancing at my bedroom mirror my bronzer skin gives me an attractive look against my dusty blond, my heart-shaped face, full lush lips, and my sky blue eyes with a good carving body in the right places I honestly, can get any man I want on his knees.
I have to move on from Robert and focus on myself.
I signed, taking my phone inside my handbag, and exited my room.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filled the air welcoming me as I made my way to the dining room everyone was already gathered for breakfast.
I, still feeling the emotional weight of my conversation with Robert the previous night, joined my family at the table, trying to put on a brave face.
Emma was already seated, chatting animatedly with our parents. Robert was at her side, sipping his coffee and listening intently. I took a seat across from them, offering a polite smile.
"Good morning, everyone," I greeted, pouring myself a cup of coffee.
"Good morning, sis," Emma replied cheerfully. "Did you sleep well?"
"Well enough," I blow, trying to keep my tone light.
As we settled into the meal, Emma's excitement was palpable. She kept glancing at Robert, who nodded encouragingly.
What's going on?
Finally, unable to contain herself any longer, Emma cleared her throat."So, we have some exciting news to share," she began, looking around the table. "Robert and I as you know we're going to rebuild our lives here. We have found a new house beside the beach and we're going to be moving in next week!"
Their mother beamed. "That's wonderful news, Emma! Tell us all about it.”
Emma launched into a detailed description of the house—its spacious rooms, the beautiful garden, the pool swimming, and the cozy neighborhood. She painted a vivid picture, her enthusiasm contagious. Robert chimed in occasionally, adding details and agreeing with Emma's descriptions.
"It's exactly what we've been looking for," Emma concluded, her eyes sparkling. "A fresh start, and it's perfect for us after Robert sells our old house.”
I forced a smile, trying to share in my sister's happiness as a pick of jealousy slowed my heart.
"It sounds amazing, Emma. I'm really happy for you both.”"Thanks, Elena," Emma said, her smile warm and genuine.
"We can't wait for you to see it."
The rest of the breakfast passed in a blur of chatter and laughter. I did my best to participate, but my mind kept drifting back to the conversation with Robert.
I stole glances at him, wondering how he was processing everything.
As the meal wound down, Emma stood up, gathering her dishes. "Well, we've got a lot to do today. Packing and all that. But we're really excited about this new chapter.”
"Let us know if you need any help," My father offered. "We'd be happy to lend a hand."
"Thanks, Dad," Emma replied, giving him a grateful smile.“We'll definitely take you up on that."
As the family began to disperse, Robert lingered at the table, his gaze fixed on me as I scrolled over my Instagram and sipping on my coffee.I could feel his eyes on me, but I avoided looking directly at him. Instead, I stood up and focused on clearing the table and helping my mother with the dishes.
“Elena," Robert said softly, coming up beside me as I rinsed a plate."Can we talk for a moment?"
I glanced at him, my heart racing.“Think there's nothing to talk about anymore.”
“Please, Elena.” He whispered.
I glanced at him and I felt like I can't say no to him when he was giving me this please look.I nodded.
“Okey, not here. Let's step outside." I wiped my hand with the kitchen towel. We walked out to the patio, the morning air crisp and refreshing.
I crossed my arms, feeling a knot of anxiety in my stomach.
"What is it, Robert?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady."I just wanted to make sure you're okay," He said, his tone sincere. "After last night, I mean.”
I nodded, taking a deep breath.
“I'm okay, Robert. Thanks for checking.”
Robert looked relieved. "I'm glad to hear that. I just want you to know that I care about you. I want to be a friend with you like before anything happens.”"Thank you," I replied, my eyes softening.
“I appreciate that.”
We stood in silence for a moment, gazing at each other eyes the weight of our shared past hanging between us. Finally, Robert spoke again.
"I hope we can all move forward and find some peace," His voice filled with hope.I nodded, offering him a small smile.
“Me too, Robert. Me too." I said heavily he was the one to ask me to wait for him and he wants me to move on what a twist.
“I have to heading out for work now, see you later.” I sigh as I take a step away from him.
“I have to visit your restaurant soon.” He smile warmly at me.
“You welcome anytime.” I say waving him goodbye.
I return inside to pick my handbag and say my goodbye to my family before stilled in my car and drive towards my restaurant.
It wouldn't be easy to move on, but I was determined to find my own happiness and move forward, just as Robert and Emma were doing. The future was uncertain, but I was ready to, one step at a time.
