Standing around we were told to line up.
Time to find him, I thought.
He wasn't really avoiding me but ignoring me to say the least.
"Come on, let's go line up"
"Ha okay"
Ha okay? No 'wow', no ' you look good', just laughter.
I wasn't pissed off with him at all, I wanted things to be right.
------
"Amelia!" Lee said.
"Yeah"
"Your mum wants a photography of you and your date"
"Oh okay" I thought it was embarrassing but I'm glad she asked otherwise I'd never of had one.
"We've got to go find my mum, she wants a photo of us two"
"Right okay"
He was a man of few words tonight.
Although he looked handsome, his inner self shines brighter and that put me off giving him compliments. he knew he looked good, surely?
-----
I could see my mum talking to my Ex, I just ignored it, she was having fun, also I didn't need to care about it.
-----
Then my mum got an old friend of mine called Jake to have a photo with me, he grabbed my waist and not in tough way but it was just shocking as I hadn't seen him or even spoken to him in God knows how long and he didn't refrain physical contact.
Whereas my date, on the other hand, wasn't too sure he wanted to touch me.
He kept his hands right in his pockets, it wasn't expected, but what I was expecting was too much to ask for.
----
Photos sorted... Kind of.
We finally displayed physical contact.
"I think we need to link arms"
I stared down at him.... Yes I was taller. The heels were so big, I tried to slouch but it didn't work. Whoops."Oh okay"
I slid my hand through his own.
"No, mine goes above"
"Okay, I'm not really an expert in this field of things"
We had a little bit of an argument I must say,
"I got stung this morning by stinging nettles" he said.
I groaned.
"Oh you wuss"
I regret saying that, I sounded horrid but then he was too.
"Am I suppose to have a mask?" he asked.
"Oh my god"
"What?"
"You don't have a mask?"
"Oh wait,"
And he pulled out some black fake RayBans from his pocket.
"Nice"
"I knew right."
"Well I need to put mine on, could you do it?"
"I'll do it" said Ryan (only just found out his name) he was in front of me and him.
"Aw thank you, it should be you doing this really shouldn't it?" Rhetorical question which I wish he answered.
He simply shrugged as his mate tied a bow to complete my masquerade look.
"Thank you" I glared at him but he didn't give me anything.
So I settled down a bit, maybe I was scaring him. I thought it myself.
Maybe he was nervous.
I held onto that thought and carried on walking.
"Almost there now"
Me and him chatted some stupid stuff and then I told him how I almost broke my foot the other day.
"I was going to tell you"
"It wouldn't have made a difference"
"Sorry I'm taller than you"
"It's alright"
----
The promenade lead us to some bongo drums and my neighbour taking pictures of me and him. I smiled and greeted them as I tried to blank other faces. I knew I saw them I would be ill.
----
We were finally in the hall.
"What do we do now?"
"No clue"
As the lights went down, people were beginning the routine that we'd all practised beforehand. i hoped.
So we found a spot and stopped.
"I've forgotten it all!"
Everyone stood around confused and laughing, they'd all forgotten the dance.
Then as the music came on, we came alive in laughter, song and embarrassment.
He put his hand on my waist and still I was not nervous or uncomfortable in his presence, which was good.
However by the end I discovered that I was not feeling anything strong for him, I wonder what that suggested for the rest of the night.
