I stare at a sheet of questions, headphones in, not really paying attention.
"Class, this is the new girl, Clove." Mrs. Snare says. Everybody looks up. In walks a girl with medium length, dark hair and brown eyes. She smiles nervously and walks to her desk, clutching her books to her chest. I watch as she walks to her desk. She looks at me and smiles. I look down.
The bell rings in no time and everyone gets up to go to their next class.
On the way there, I here someone say, "Watch it." I look over people's shoulders trying not to lose sight of the new girl. I see her get shoved onto the ground. I start walking faster, hoping to keep track of her. She sits up and starts picking up her books, which had slid across the floor. She turns around, sees me, and glares. I look down.
At home I start talking with my dad.
"Cato..."
"I can't even talk to a girl." I say frustratedly, while turning around and walking out. I go to my room and start planning what I'm going to say to the new girl.
"Hi, I'm Cato.... No."
"Hey, my names Cato."
"Ummmm.... hey..... Dang it!"
Eventually I give up, go downstairs and have something to eat. Then I go back to my room and go to bed.
The next morning, when I go to school, I keep thinking on how to introduce myself to the new girl. Then I walk into the art room and see her sitting there, cleaning.
"Hey!" she says.
"Hey." I say back, nervously.
"I'm Clove." she says.
"Cato." I say back.
