I walk slowly down the street, heading in the direction of Cato's house. I start thinking about all the other districts. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. I wonder how big those districts are. But not for long. I reach Cato's house and knock on the door. Cato's mom lets me in, saying Cato is out at the moment, but will be here soon. So I sit on the couch and wait.
I hear the front door open behind me.
"What are you doing here?" Cato asks.
I turn my head around, smiling. "I came to say hi." He smiles goes out of the room, puts the large flour bag he was carrying away, and came back.
"Want to go to the candy shop?" he asks.
"Sure." I answer. So we walk down the streets to the candy shop. He asks me what I want. I told him to pick for me. After he buys the candy, we start walking back to his house.
"Hey, wanna have supper at my house?" I ask.
"I don't know..." he says nervously, looking down.
"Come on. Please?" I ask.
"I think my mom wanted me to have supper at home..."
"My parents don't bite." I say.
"But my mom wanted me home..." he quietly says.
"I didn't here her say that." I say, cocking my head.
"Fine, I'll ask." he sighs.
"Come on then." I say, and start running all the way to his house.
When I get there, I let myself in and ask Cato's mom if Cato could have supper at my house. She agrees. I turn and smirk at Cato who had just gotten here, then walk out the door.
At home, I open the door and yell, "Mom, Cato's here."
Feet shuffle down the hallway, and then my mom shows up.
"Hello, Cato. You can call me Grace." my mom says. Cato smiles and shakes her hand. She looks at me. "Clove, why don't you go show Cato around the house? Supper isn't quite ready yet."
"Sure thing, Mom." I say, then grab Cato's hand and attempt to pull him. He laughs. I let go, run down the hallway, and hide behind a corner.
"Clove! Where are you?" I hear Cato yell and wait till just the right moment, then jump out, scaring him. I start laughing. He frowns at me. I fall on the floor, laughing so hard, my stomach hurt.
"Clove, go get your father!" my mom yells. I get up and run all the way to peacekeeper training and back.
I tell my mom that dad will be here in a minute. We all sit down and after five hours of waiting, my dad finally shows up. I right away start dishing up. I get scolded and my dad introduces himself. My dad slowly sits down. As soon as he's sitting, I wolf down my food. Everyone laughs. After super was done, Cato left. I rush out after him, holding a black notebook.
"Cato!" I yell. He turns around. "Here are the notes from school."
"Thanks." he says and grabs the notebook. He smiles and walks away.
"Good-bye, Cato." I yell. He turns around and waves. I smile.
