"Tribute parade. So... you look nice to get sponsors?" I ask my stylist.
"Pretty much." She says.
"Alright, Cato, you need to go to the chariots." Kitty says.
"Be there in a minute." I call.
At the chariots, I see Clove dressed up in an identical costume.
"You ready?" she asks.
"Yep." I answer. She smiles and climbs onto the chariot. I follow her.
As we parade down the 'street', I steal glances at Clove.
"Together, or not at all, right?" Clove asks quietly as we enter a circle where the chariots will stand while President Snow talks.
"Yes. Together or not at all." I whisper back. She goes back to waving at the crowd.
I block out President Snow's words and look at all of the tributes. District 12 is lighting up the night with their fiery costume, and everybody else seems to have nice looking outfits, but 12 stands out the most. No doubt they're going to get sponsors.
I feel a hand gently grab onto mine. I look and see Clove staring straight ahead, but her hand was curled around mine. I see her other hand shaking the slightest bit, just enough to tell me she's scared. I curl my fingers around hers.
When we get back to the tribute centre, Clove bites our heads off.
"WE NEED TO PLAN!!! WE HAVE BEEN ON THE TRAIN AND HERE AND WE HAVE PLANNED A TOTAL OF HOW MANY TIMES? ONCE!!!" she screeches.
"Clove, calm down. You are Careers. You have the advantage of training. You scare everyone." Enobaria says gently.
"Clover, you know Enobaria's right. We have the advantage." I say, lightly touching her hand.
"I have to go back. My parents are dead, and Violet can't take care of herself. She's only three." Clove says, panic flaring up in her eyes.
"Clove. Calm down. Start by impressing the Capitol. So when you're training, impress them. Don't just do good when you throw knives, or wield a sword. Pretend those dummies are real people, who are going to kill the ones you love. Like Violet." Enobaria says.
"Or Lily." Brutus says, a smirk on his face.
"Lily... The Capitol wouldn't touch her, right?" I ask, beginning to get worried.
"No, they wouldn't, Lily's safe in 2." Brutus says, chuckling.
Lily... Snow, if you, or someone you ordered, do so much as lay a finger on Lily, you are dead. I can promise you that. I think to myself.
Stay safe, Lily.
