CHAPTER 7: Jealousy

Aiah's POV

Me and Mikha always hang out after school. we talk a lot on our social media. we update each other on what happens in our daily lives. we even hang out somewhere on weekends when our friends are busy and we just miss each other.

It's been two months since she brought me to that breath-taking city lights view, and today was a long day. We took long quizzes in our three subjects and are looking for someone to interview for our group project.

Now we're on our way to our school gate when they asked Mikha's whereabouts these past few days. I was nervous, but they asked Mikha non-stop, so I basically said, "She was with me" and Colet was shocked, maybe because I didn't tell her a thing about me going out at night with Mikha, because growing up, me and Colet always told each other everything because we're cousins.

After they had that conversation, we continued walking our way to the school parking lot, where our drivers usually wait for us. The girls bid their goodbyes and went to their cars. It's just three of us left here. Mikha, me, and Colet. We have a family dinner today, so me and Colet will go together. We bid our good-bye to Mikha and got in the car.

I saw her standing and watching our car leave when I realized I hadn't told her about our family dinner. That explains her reaction when I told her to see you tomorrow and got in the car.

"Shuxx, nakalimutan ko pala" I said out of nowhere.

"Huh? Ang alin?" Colet asked me while looking at me.

"Ah wala, hindi ko pala nakalimutan" I answered, raising my right hand where my phone was.

"Tell me, what's the catch between you and mikhs?" Colet asked me as if I were hiding something.

"Wala, friends, we go out to relax, lang. Bakit?" I answered and returned the question to her.

"Wala, I just smell something fishy" she said and chuckled.

"Whatever's the catch between the two of you, I support my cousin and my best friend. I'm happy for the both of you" Colet said, still looking at me while waiting for my reaction, I guess.

"We're friends, Oa mo" I said, looking away, and she laughed so hard at me.

After our family dinner, me and my parents went home, allowing them to rest while I needed to do our activity in calculus and get ready for bed.


I woke up at 6:00, so I went straight to the bathroom and got ready for school. After taking a bath, I went down to eat my breakfast. I searched the dining room for my parents, but our helper told me they went out early today, so I just finished my breakfast and left for school.

We're here at our school library, and me and the girls are reading because our instincts tell us that our calculus teacher will have a surprise quiz later. While Mikha's reading applicants forms for SSG positions, sitting beside Colet and the girl who approached us earlier, Jazz.

"I'll buy something in the cafeteria, pasabay kayo" Colet said, looking at us.

"Me, C2" Gwen said.


"Buko juice" Maloi said.

"Kayong dalawa pa talaga nauna" Colet said, making Maloi and Gwen laugh.

"Kayo?" Colet asked the girls.

"C2 din sakin" Sheena said.

"Me three" Stacey said.

"Jho?" Colet asked Jhoanna, who's busy reading our text book. Jhoanna just looked at Colet, nodded, and went back to read her book.

"Sama nalang ako" I said, standing up.


"Me too" Jazz said, closing her laptop.

"How about you, Mikhs?" Colet asked her. She didn't remove her eyes from the papers she's reading and said, "I'm good" Mikha said coldly.

We're on our way to the cafeteria, and I didn't notice that me and Jazz were behind Colet, who's a bit far from us.

"So you're Aiah, right?" Jazz said, looking at me.

"Yup, I'm Maraiah Arceta" I introduced myself to her because we didn't get a proper introduction earlier at the school gate.

"I'm Jasmine Henry" she introduced herself and smiled at me.

Gosh, she's kind. How can I hate her? I said to myself because she's kind towards us while I hated her because she was with Mikha last night instead of Mikha being with me. But it's my fault too. I didn't tell Mikha we had that family dinner.

"So you're the lucky girl" Jazz said while smiling as if she knew something I didn't know about.

"What do you mean? I mean, how am I the lucky girl?" I said, confused by what she just said.

"Nothing" she said, looking at me and smiling sweetly.

After that conversation with Jazz, Colet told us to hurry and went into the cafeteria and bought all the foods our friends said, while I bought two cups of coffee and two sandwiches for me and Mikha.

We got back into the library. I told the librarian that we would clean after us, and she let us in with our food. Jazz and I helped Colet give what we bought to the girls and sit in our seats.

I pulled out my coffee and my sandwich and handed Mikha the paper bag containing her coffee and sandwich. She looked at me confused.

"You can read while eating" I simply said, and I went back to my seat.

"Really? In front of my buko juice?" Maloi said, looking at me and Mikha.

"Ate Aiah, what is the meaning of this?" Sheena said, laughing.

"Kayo talaga, ini-issue nyo sila" Colet said, teasing me and Mikha.

"I'll go. I need to give the dean these selected SSG members" Mikha said seriously and left.

She's really avoiding me; I can feel it. Is it because of jazz, or is this about last night? I need to talk to her.
"I'll go to the restroom," I said, standing up.

I followed Mikha and called her.

"Mikhs!" I said, but she didn't stop, so I ran towards her and held her wrist.

"Hey" I said while panting.

"I need to go. I'm bu-" I didn't let her finish what she was saying when I pulled her inside the cafe's back door.

"What are yo-" She didn't finish what she was saying when I said, "Are you avoiding me?"

"Why? If this is about last night, you know I can explain" I added, looking at her.

"Avoiding? You? No, why would I?" She said and looked away. LIE. Yes, you are avoiding me, Mikha Lim.

"You are avoiding me, Mikha. Look, last night I went to a family dinner. I forgot to tell you that because I plan to go and see you after you know" I said, explaining what happened last night.

"Yes, and you went with my best friend" she answered, looking so annoyed and sad.

"Are you jealous?" I asked her curiously.

"Look, Arceta, I need to give these papers to the dean before 8 am" Mikha said, looking at her watch.

"Ate Aiah!" I heard them call me, so I told Mikha that I'd wait for her on the rooftop after our 3 classes this morning, and I ran towards the girls.

"Where were you? I thought you're going to the restroom?" Sheena asked me.

"Yes, students asked me for the nearest coffee shop, so I accompanied them here" I said. hoping that they will believe what I just said.
