Herald High was buzzing with activity and Rebecca thought she might just get caught up in the air of excitement she was witnessing.

She had been given an image of the school on it's website, but the image failed to do justice to the beautiful scenery that had knocked her breathless this morning.

The greenery complimented the school's brand colours- green, pink and grey. Pink flowers dotted green bushes at creative spots around the compound.

Deep grey asphalt covered every drive way in the premises. The road here, in a school, was ironically smoother than most Lagos roads she had passed.

Not to sound like a pauper or anything.

There were so many buildings, Rebecca thought she would get lost. She definitely could.

There was a science building whose exterior was 70% spotless glass that reflected the skies in such a marvelous way.

There was also an art building that was, itself, a work of art.

Then there was the administrative building. It was a captivating shade of dark green with grey roofing. It had pillars that stood mightily, holding the top part of the building firm.

She had submitted her resume online and though her orientation was physical, it was no where near this bedazzling premises.

Herald Highschool was far different from the schools she had worked at previously, all government schools. It was definitely a slap in the face of the Lagos state government. She wondered which architect cashed out on the designing of the school.

Becca was using all her strength not to stop and stare at everything like a child. Or a begger, seeing that the school was filled with children from supposedly wealthy families, and this scenery wasn't unusual to them.

However, Rebecca's biggest shock wasn't the beautiful environment, it wasn't even the self proclaimed snubs of colleagues she had encountered and would have to endure for the rest of her career here.

It was the assembly.

The assembly had held at 7:20 am sharp that morning. Teachers had rushed students out of their classes but not outside, like Becca had expected.

The school held assemblies in a hall. Two halls actually. One for junior classes, and another for senior classes.

And the teachers attended assemblies with the respective classes they taught.

Rebecca was informed by a polite colleague that urging students into assembly halls was the job of student prefects, but it was the first day and most prefects would not have resumed.

Becca had her assembly with the senior students. She was a biology teacher.

Or Anatomy of Living Things, as the school called it.

The senior students seemed less pleased about being in school on the first day, but Becca could hardly notice. She was pretty excited herself.

When she had called Jacob, her Fiancé, to share the testimony of her new job, he rejoiced with her.

He offered to take her out and she gleefully accepted.

They had prayed together over the new path she was taking. Over her fears. Over her future colleagues. Over her future students.

They had ate and drank. And finally, after promising to detail him about her first day, she retired home.

Rebecca thought herself blessed to have a Godly man as Jacob by her side.
