BECKY JONES.

"Becky!!" Kesi Dokubo screamed when her best friend walked into the class.

Becky had been feeling all the nerves this morning and she paused like a deer in headlight when she heard her name. But she easily relaxed when her eyes found Kesi's excited face.

She stumbled backward and giggled as Kesi ambushed her in a tight embrace, her anxiety relaxing.

"My baby!" Her friend said, putting Becky at arms length and cupping her face. Kesi's beautiful coffee eyes twinkled with delight as she studied Becky as though they had not seen one another in 10 years.

"Hii, Kes." Becky smiled back, happy to physically see her friend's beautiful face after a long break. She was sure they were making a scene, but their classmates were probably already used to it.

Becky and Kesi had been friends since SS1, and Becky came to Herald High in JSS3. Her family was just returning to Nigeria.

When she met first Kesi, Becky was thought her nice, maybe too nice. She was always smiling at everyone, even when people were rude to her. But Becky noticed soon enough that however kind she was, Kesi would never let anyone disrespect her...or her friends.

Becky started to relate with Kesi when she was preparing for BECE, a Nigerian examination undertaken to enter highschool. She realized that Kesi took her grades seriously, just like herself. So Becky acquainted herself with her. By the end of SS1 third term, they were practically inseparable.

Kesi was also a Christian and her morals matched what Becky was walking towards.

Becky was too, by she wasn't really religious. Kesi lived her faith in every kind deed she did.
And Becky admired that in her friend.

Being good just seemed effortless for her. She was just so perfect. Becky used to hope to be close. But now she had strayed too far...

Becky tried to mask the anguish she felt from her friend's keen eyes with a smile. She felt her anxiety return. Her eyes scanned the classroom. "Let's find our seats"

"Oh, I already did that" Kesi, offered, leading her to some seats by the window. " This is mine, and this is yours"

Becky's seat was in front of Kesi's own and on the second column. Not too much to the front and not near the middle of the class. Becky loved window seats, although this one was more wall than window. It only took about quarter of the window panel.

"Thank you so much, Kes" She pulled out the wooden seat with green plastic rims and sat, putting her bag on the table.

Kesi sat too. "Is it because it's the first say that you're not smiling?"

"What? Yes, I am" She avoided her friends eyes, focusing on offloading her bag instead.

"I called your name and you looked like you might just make a dash for it. You should have seen your face!" Kesi joked.

Becky rolled her black eyes. "Well, I'm sorry your high pitched voiced startled me"

"As if!"

They both laughed.

"How was your break?" Kesi said, placing her elbows on her desk.

"Kesi" Becky looked at her friend pointedly with a smile "we spoke practically everyday during the break. I'm sure you know how my break was"
