Becky Laju Jones.

Kesi had not had a single class today. But she neither offered Anatomy nor Commerce, both of which Becky offers.

After Anatomy class this morning, was the long break and Becky hadn't see her best friend since her first class until some minutes before the short break.

Kesi walked into SS3 B and made her way to her seat by the window. Becky was seated in her own seat in front of Kesi's with her head snug between her hands on the table. Kesi didn't bother to wake her friend and sat down in her seat, picking up her peach-colored backpack. Becky stirred with the movement and raised her head up.

With sleepy eyes, she turned to face Kesi who was smiling apologetically at her.

"I am sorry I woke you."

"Oh, I wasn't really into it." Becky sat up straight. "Where were you all morning? I didn't see you after Anatomy class or during the long break either."

"Oh, I was just about. I went to see my sister, Maybell" Kesi explained.

"Oh my!" Becky said, the sleep cleared completely from her eyes as she remembered. "Maybell. She's entering JSS1 now, right?"

Maybell was Kesi's 10-year-old sister.

"Yes" Kesi replied, hanging the backpack back on the side of the desk after collecting her jotter.

"How is she?"

Kesi laughed lightly. It was one of the most graceful things Becky had ever heard. "You know Maybell. She had about 5 best friends when I saw her. I would say she's settling well."

"That's great."

"How was Commerce?" Kesi asked. Her eyes were on whatever she was writing in her jotter. Becky was grateful Kesi did not ask about Anatomy class.

"It was just‒ " Becky was interrupted by the loud bell that resounded throughout the hallways.

It was time for short break already. Becky couldn't be happier that school time was coming to a close. After this break, they would have two more classes before the end of school for the day.

There was a series of relieved sighs from the few boys and girls that were so unfortunate to be in school today. Becky rolled her eyes internally.

Like they had any class just now.

Some girls started leaving the already half-empty class, while some boys Becky could recognize from SS3A barged in, shouting greetings at their friends here.

"The Emperor!" One boy said. His grey waistcoat plaid with pink lines was fully unbuttoned, revealing the emerald packet shirt and plaid tie underneath.

"The man!" the boy who was called "The emperor" chorused back. These boys took turns slapping each other on the back in greeting, seemingly oblivious to how their deep male laughter carried throughout the class.

For such a highly esteemed school filled with children from high profile families, the inside life was not always so sophisticated.

But boys would be boys. When Becky's eyes returned to Kesi, she met her best friend waiting for her to complete what she had been saying.
