The boys took a liking to River immediately during their ride home, but conversations with him would have to wait for a later date. River understood, considering that Gaster explained everything to him beforehand.

It was still nighttime, so Gaster knew Sans and Papyrus would still be asleep, which was more than enough time to get the boys informed on things. But first things first, getting them so actually clothes and some decent food.

They said their goodbyes to River when they arrived in Snowdin. They were cautious of the falling snow, so Gaster made sure to keep a somewhat tight hold on them. He brought them to his small lab at the back of his house for a little bit just in case his other sons woke up.

He looked and them and spoke in a rather low voice, "you boys stay here for a moment, alright? I will be back in just a moment with some clothes and food for you." He then realized that he was definitely gonna have to tell Papyrus to not yell around them for a little while.

1S and 2P looked at each other. "What does this mean for us, brother?" 2P asked.

"I think we have a family now, a loving one at that. I think...I think we'll be safe here," 1S replied, smiling at his brother and holding his hand.

2P immediately got excited, "does this mean we won't be hurt anymore?! Oh, brother this is wonderful!" They hugged each other, though not super tightly as they were still very hurt from the experiments earlier, but for once they felt safe and happy.

Soon enough, Gaster returned with clothes tucked under his arm and a tray of food. He set the tray down on the counter next to 2P and held out the clothes he grabbed from his sons' rooms. Since they were basically the same people, he assumed that they would fit in the same clothes. Of course, he would eventually take them shopping for their own wardrobes and whatever they wanted for their room when sleeping arrangements were in order, but that would come at a later date.

Gaster helped dress the boys, showing them how to do it properly so they could eventually do it themselves. Their learning was slightly stunted, but he supposed that was normal given their previous circumstances. It was nothing he couldn't fix with some homeschooling from Gaster and a little help from Sans and Papyrus. They would soon enough be able to attend the public school with his other sons. He was a little shocked now by the thought that he now had four sons, but he didn't mind it. These two needed help and a loving home, and he was happy to provide it.

He let the boys eat as he observed them when suddenly a thought came to his mind, "I suppose I will have to give you boys new names." He couldn't exactly name them Sans and Papyrus even if that was who they were in their own AU and that their fonts were the same outside of Wingdings. Thank God he taught Sans and Papyrus Wingdings as well as English. Yes, new names were definitely in order.

"What's a name?" 2P asked, looking curiously at 1S. He was used to asking him questions like that more than Gaster.

"I-I'm not sure," 1S then looked hopefully at Gaster, seeing if he had an answer to such an unusual question.

"I suppose it's a term used for identification by an external observer. In simpler terms, it's how people refer to you. It's a way they can better identify you," Gaster explained, not particularly used to having to simplify his explanations to even Papyrus, Sans would do that for him.

"So then, my name would be 1S and he would be 2P?" 1S asked, looking at both of their hand plates.

Gaster chuckled, "Well, perhaps you would like different names? It might be easier for you to put that man in the back of your mind if people don't refer to you as that. And it would probably be better for you if people don't question those names."

They thought about it for a moment, and it did make sense. Perhaps it was better for them mentally if nobody referred to them as names that was previously used for hate and made people think that they were things instead of monsters.

"How about this, would you like to be named after fonts like my other sons?" Gaster offered.

"You have other sons?" 2P asked excitedly. He had never met other kids before!

"Yes, and they are your ages as well. Don't worry, they are nice," he reassured them when he saw 1S's worried expression. "I think you all will get along great when you meet them tomorrow. As for your names, let me list off a few fonts and you tell me which one you like." As he listed off a few, they picked them fairly quickly. 2P decided on Times New Roman and 1S picked Traditional Serif. "Excellent choices, so your new names would be Roman and Serif, what do you think?"

"I love it!" 2P, now Roman, said. He truly did love his new name.

"I actually really like it," 1S, now Serif, said. He didn't expect to like it as much as he did.

The night went on fairly quickly as Gaster explained a few things to the boys regarding what would happen about them getting their own room, knowing that they wouldn't want to be separated, and some general rules of the house. Eventually, when the night came to a close and Sans and Papyrus would be waking up soon, he took the boys hands and brought them into the house once he helped them put on their shoes. They wouldn't walk through snow without shoes, but he did find it adorable how their eyes now lit up at the sight of the falling snow. He would definitely let Sans and Papyrus take them out to play later to get them better accustomed to the weather

Before he went upstairs to collect Sans and Papyrus, he grabbed two pairs of fingerless gloves for the boys. It's best if nobody asked questions about the hand plates for now. He picked out a light orange for Roman and a dark blue for Serif. He set the boys down on the couch and crouched down to eye level.

"Wait here, I'll go wake up Sans and Papyrus. They'll be down to meet you once they get dressed for the day," Gaster said, seeing an excited look from Roman and a rather timid yet slightly curious look from Serif. Once he woke Sans and Papyrus up, he came back down and stood next to the couch, reassuringly smiling at Serif and Roman.

Soon enough Sans and Papyrus came downstairs, their eyes lighting up in both excitement and confusion at the two new monsters sitting on the couch. Quickly, Gaster spoke before Papyrus did his usual excited scream.

"Try not to make sudden movements or yell, they are easily frightened. And they only know Wingdings, so that is how we will speak to them until they learn English," Gaster said to his first two sons, "anyway, meet your new brothers Roman and Serif."

Each other them walked closer to each other to observe. Serif and Roman glowed their eyes, a common sign of comfort seeking among skeletons. Sans and Papyrus glowed their eyes as well, and they were happy when they each saw that the other had the same colors. Serif and Sans were especially happy that their eyes were the same, only one glowed.

Immediately, they pulled each other into a four-way hug, adorable giggles filling the room. Gaster smiled, happy to know that things would be okay for the boys now, they finally had the family that they deserved. Sans and Papyrus would definitely need an explanation of what happened and how he acquired the two boys later, but for now, all he needed to do was reassure the boys that everything would be okay. And of course, they would discuss rooms later and how their lives would be a little different now, but things were already going well, and that's all Gaster needed to know that he made the right choice in taking the boys with him.

Their family was bigger now, and that was okay with all of them, and they would do whatever it takes to assure Serif and Roman's safety and always make sure they feel loved and protected. This was their life now, and they were more than okay with that.
