With smudged mascara and puffy eyes, your feet wouldn't stop moving until you finally burst into your dorm. Luna was lounging on her bed, peacefully reading her magazine until you instantly caught her attention.

The smile on her face dropped as she got up, opening her arms.

Sobbing, you fell into her embrace, wrapping your arms tightly around her and keeping you two as close as you possibly could. "What's wrong, love?" She asked, her voice soft. With your head still resting in the nook of her neck, you mumbled, "I did what you wanted me to do." You paused, trying to stop your voice from breaking, "It didn't work. He hates me, Lun. He absolutely hates me."

Luna's expression contorted into confusion, her brows furrowing. Hesitantly, she pulled away, holding your face between her hands, "That's not true, y/n." Tears were still flowing down your cheeks as you raised your hand to wipe them away. "It is," you nodded, "I heard him say it. I heard him talk about how it was all for show, and that he was just using me to get his ex back." Luna frowned at your words, though she caressed your cheek lightly with her thumb.

"I thought," your voice broke, dropping your head down and out of her grasp, "I thought what we had was real."

Groggily, you forced yourself out of bed. Refusing to be brought down by Mattheo's actions, you continued as per usual to your morning routine. By 7, you were leaning against the door, playing softly with your hair as you waited for Luna. You'd compelled yourself to not think about him at all throughout the day, though you knew it would prove to be hard with him being in the majority of your classes.

As soon as Luna was ready, the two of you walked arm in arm down the stairs. You laughed as Luna made a joke, grateful for her friendship as the door of the Ravenclaw Tower opened up.

Your heart stopped in your chest as your eyes fell on Mattheo, who was leaning against a pillar, waiting anxiously for you. Your gaze dropped to where his hoodie hung loosely on him, the hoodie you dropped outside his dorm yesterday. His fingers fiddled with the rings he wore, and even with his head down, you could see the exhaustion that weighted on him. As soon as the door shut behind you, he looked up, and you gasped softly, seeing his dark eye bags.

"Darling." He murmured, the pain in his voice searing through you, and you swore you felt your heart crack. Luna, from beside you, put a hand on your shoulder, and you snapped your head to her. "I'll be at breakfast, okay?" She asked, and you nodded, smiling softly as she walked past the two of you.

Slowly, you approached him, your gaze raking down his body to take in his fatigued figure.

"Why did you want me to stay away from you?" He asked.

A tense silence fell between the two of you, and you felt your concern for him slip away into the rage and heartbreak you felt last night.

"Because I've had enough of being used."

Shock flashed through his eyes, and he took a step towards you. Hastily, you moved back, holding your arms at your sides. "Y/n, what are you talking about?" His brows furrowed in confusion.

"I'm talking about the little conversation you had with your friend last night." Realisation slammed into him like the weight of a thousand bricks. "Yeah, remember now? 'I'm just trying to make my ex jealous' and 'It's all just to make them believe'." You snapped, creating air quotes with your hands.
