You were stood in the middle of the hallway, watching in shock as your boyfriend of two years kissed another girl. Tears glossed over your vision, and you looked down in embarrassment.

"If it helps, she is, or well was, my girlfriend."  A familiar voice said from beside you, and you turned your head to face Mattheo. Raising your hand to your face, you hastily wiped the tears away and sneered at the boy. You'd been in competition with him in almost everything for as long as you could remember, and the two of you hadn't necessarily gotten along.

"Why would that help?" You sniffled, and he shrugged casually. Your now ex-boyfriend pulled away from the girl he had making out with, and his gaze met yours. Regret flashed through him as he walked towards you, but Mattheo stepped in between him and you, "Stay the fuck away from her." Your ex looked astonished as Mattheo gripped your wrist and led you away, softly murmuring 'asshole' to your ex as he did so.

"Riddle, what the fuck are you doing?" You asked, though not pushing him off.

He turned the corner, and positioned the two of you so that you were hidden behind a pillar, "I have an idea. It might be stupid, but it will work." Raising a brow at him, you chuckled, "Every idea of yours is a stupid idea." He sneered mockingly at you and you stuck your tongue out at him, making him roll his eyes.

"Listen to me, won't you?" He stated, and you nodded, crossing your arms over your chest. "Our exes cheated on us with each other, yes? And it was their loss, if I'm being honest," he paused, the corner of his lips curving into a smile at the sound of your laughter, "So, why don't we take our revenge in a somewhat unconventional way."

Your ears perked up at the idea of getting them back for what they did, "Go on." He shot a quick glance to his sides, before whispering, "We should date."

"What?" You took a step back, eyes widening in surprise when he shook his head rapidly, "No, no! I meant fake date." You still weren't sure, raising both brows at him in distrust.

"All we need to do is pretend like we're together in public, and around them." He added, and you sighed, "There needs to be rules." He nodded, smirking.

"No kissing, no touching, and no falling in love with each other." You proposed.

"How am I supposed to make people believe we're together if I can't even touch you?" He shot back, and you nodded in agreement, "Fine, but no kissing."

His lips twisted into a lopsided grin, "Yes ma'am." You sighed, burying your face in your palms.

The next few minutes rushed by in a blur, as the two of you finalised the last few boundaries and rules of the 'fake dating' ruse, before the two of you parted ways: you to Ravenclaw Tower, and him to the Slytherin Common Room.

Running up to your room, you were flushed by the time you crashed through the door, startling Luna. "Merlin, I have so much to tell you." You panted, and she smiled, taking a seat on the bed and beckoning you over.

"I'm dating Mattheo Riddle," you stated, watching Luna go wide-eyed. Laughing, you sat down and spent the next half an hour explaining everything in full detail to her. By the time you were done, your best friend was speechless, looking at you with an expression of disbelief.

"Are you sure you'll be able to follow the rules?" She asked, with a knowing smile on her face.

"I know I can. It's Riddle, how hard could it be?"

The next morning, you walked down to the common room, tugging on your robe to shield you from the chill. The door swung open, and you froze. Mattheo was waiting outside, humming to himself. As soon as he noticed you, his head turned to meet your stare, "Well good morning." Your mouth was agape, though you instantly closed it as you walked out.
