"Stop it!" he yelled. He was scared of her ferocity. "Stop it, will you!?"
Panting, she came at him again. He threw the gun away so he could grapple with her with both hands.
Twice, she nearly got his eyes out with her fingernails. Blood was running down his face.
As he got to his feet, she threw herself on the gun. He reached her as her hand closed around it, and he got hold of her dress.
She kicked out at him, got up, and jumped away. The dress ripped off her, with blood running down the side of her face from a cut over her eye.
She was bringing up the gun as he grabbed her wrist. They fell on the floor. His hand was slippery with sweat, and he couldn't hold her. She twisted away, fired at him.
The bullet chipped a bit out of his arm, and as she fired again, he hit her wrist. The gun swung towards her as it went off.
For a moment, they lay staring at each other, then the gun dropped from her hand, and he got unsteadily to his feet.
"Sarah!"
He scarcely heard the squeal of car tires on the gravel outside.
"Sarah!" she shouted and kneeled beside her.
"Satisfied?" There was a jeering note in her voice. She looked down at the hole in her side. Blood began to come out.
"You fool! Why did you fight when I told you to stop it!? This couldn't have happened if only you had listened to me. "
The door jerked open. "Zambia police! don't move! Hands behind your back now!" shouted inspector Maxwell kyanika.
