Isabella, feeling obligated to fulfill her promise to Stefan, reluctantly agreed to work with Bonnie. Together, they devised a plan to protect Elena. Despite her lack of genuine concern for Elena's safety, Isabella participated in casting a spell on the Gilbert residence, preventing Elena from leaving the house. This measure ensured Elena couldn't attempt to surrender herself to Klaus again or enter the tomb to see Stefan. Unaware of the spell's existence, Elena remained oblivious to the enchantment placed on her home.
"Now that you've got this back, what are you guys gonna do with it?" Elena asked, examining the moonstone in her palm.
The two witches, draped across her bed, exchanged a glance before Bonnie replied, "Right now, it's what's binding the Sun and Moon Curse. If Riley and I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone, the stone becomes useless."
Isabella remained silent, her disinterest in the situation evident as she absently twirled a lock of hair between her fingers.
"And, according to Katherine, Klaus becomes vengeful."
"Uh, Klaus can only become vengeful if he finds out. And I'm not gonna tell him. Are you?" Isabella's eyes narrowed as she raised an inquisitive eyebrow toward Elena, her distrust palpable. Elena rolled her eyes in response, clearly irritated by Isabella's insinuation.
"Guys, can't this wait? Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine. We've gotta get him out."
Bonnie shook her head. "Stefan wants us to work on this."
"Well, don't listen to him. He thinks he's protecting me, but he's wrong," Elena sighed heavily, her frustration evident.
Isabella's patience wore thin. "Maybe Stefan knows what's best for you, Elena. He's trying to keep you safe."
Elena frowned, feeling defensive. "He's just being overprotective."
Isabella's tone sharpened. "He's trying to protect you because he cares. Maybe you should start appreciating that."
Bonnie yanked the moonstone from Elena's grip just as Jeremy wandered into the bedroom. "What're you guys arguing about?"
"Not arguing about anything," Bonnie shrugged innocently. She quickly slipped the moonstone into her handbag and glanced at Isabella, who still wore a disapproving expression directed at Elena. "I need a coffee. You coming?"
"Yeah. Yeah, sure. I need a break from Elena anyway," Isabella nodded. She followed Bonnie down the staircase, and Jeremy soon left the room as well. "So, you really think she'll take it?"
Bonnie poured the espresso into two cups, then shrugged toward Isabella. "There's only one way to find out. She definitely watched me put the damn thing in my bag, though."
At the sound of Elena moving down the staircase, Isabella scoffed. "Unbelievable." She and Bonnie moved into the hallway just as Elena reached the bottom of the stairs. "Where are you off to?"
