Isabella woke abruptly, the scent of burning filling her senses. Panic surged through her as she realized something was wrong. She shot out of bed and hurried downstairs, following the acrid smell to the living room.
There, she found Damon standing by the window, his arm extended towards the sunlight streaming through the curtains. His hand was inches away from the sunlight, his fingers trembling.
"Damon, no!" Isabella shouted, rushing over to him. She could see the anguish etched on his face, the desperation to stop the pain.
Without hesitation, Isabella extended her hand and used her magic to push Damon away from the window. She closed the curtains with a swift motion, blocking out the sunlight that threatened to burn her brother.
"Damon, what are you doing?" Isabella demanded, her voice tinged with worry and fear.
Damon turned to her, his eyes dark with pain. "I got bit, Isabella. By a werewolf."
Isabella's heart sank at Damon's words, dread pooling in her stomach. Werewolf bites were deadly to vampires, and she knew the urgency of the situation. But before she could voice her plan to siphon the bite, Damon interrupted her.
"I can't let you do that, Isabella," Damon said, his voice strained with pain. "Last time you siphoned a bite, it nearly killed you. You're a siphoner and a vampire; you can't risk that again. The bite affects your vampire side."
Isabella's brow furrowed in frustration and fear. She knew Damon was right. The bite she siphoned could backfire, draining her life force.
"But Damon, I can handle it this time," Isabella insisted, her voice pleading. "I can siphon the bite and heal you. We don't have any other choice."
Damon shook his head weakly, his eyes pleading with her to understand. "Isabella, I can't afford to hurt you. If something happens to you because of me..."
Tears welled up in Isabella's eyes as she looked at him with despair in her eyes.
"We'll figure something out," Damon said, his voice more determined now. "There has to be another way."
Isabella took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. She knew Damon was right about the risk, but she couldn't bear the thought of losing him. They had always been there for each other, no matter what.
"We'll find a cure," Isabella said firmly, her voice tinged with hope. "There's always a way."
