Beyond the open-and-shut door, the world

Hannah sat on her bed in the dim, shadowy room. The heavy curtains were drawn tightly shut, blocking out any trace of light leaving no light in the room.

Even in her life

Mark switched on the night lamp and looked at the girl. She sat motionless, her eyes empty and distant, as if her body was present but her soul had drifted far away.

Hannah's tears wouldn't stop. She broke down again, sobbing uncontrollably, her cheeks growing wet with the steady stream of tears.

Mark noticed her, and his chest tightened at the sight. Seeing her in such pain he felt helpless, not knowing how to comfort her, which only deepened his own sense of despair.

Gently, Mark sat beside her and pulled her into his embrace, offering a comforting hug. She leaned into him, her sobs muffled as he held her close, hoping his presence could provide some solace.

Hannah broke down in tears, clutching his hoodie. Mark pulled her closer and rested her head on his chest.

"I'll ruin your hoodie" Hannah stuttered.
"It's fine"

Mark was able to hear her uneven breathing by how close they were, she was slightly calmer than her previous state.

Hannah didn't realize she needed someone, but Mark's presence and comfort were exactly what she needed.

Mark noticed how close they were getting his heart beating rapidly, he wished she wasn't able to hear it at close proximity.

She looked beautiful, more of cute while she pressed her cheek on his chest and her hands unknowingly clutching onto his hoodie. She zoned out, staring at the wall ahead of her.

Mark adored her.

Hannah felt a lot better now after having a proper breakdown, the weight on her head felt as if it was relieved leaving a slight headache by crying.

"Yo- uhm... Are you okay?" Mark asked awkwardly, not knowing what to do at the moment.
Hannah nodded slightly.
"What happened?"

The question made her take a pause for a minute, contemplating whether she should tell him or not. Mark waited patiently looking at her with concern laced eyes.

Hannah sighed.
"I feel neglected" Hannah murmured, looking down at her hands which was fiddling with the drawstrings of her pj pants.

"Since I was a kid, I felt neglected. My parents will almost fight everyday because their opinions never matched, several times at home it was just me, Mason and Parker. When I turned ten to eleven years old Mason was in his teens and wanted to hangout. I won't blame him, he was just like any of his friends in their teens wanting to enjoy. We took care of Parker more than our parents did, he was four to five back then. I always felt alone and the most unimportant one, I wanted to play and have fun too even Parker wanted that but Mason would cook for us not even our mum and he used to feed us too but I feel neglected cause... cause I just wanted quality time nothing else. Was it too much to ask for?"

Hannah looked up at Mark after finishing what she said as he gulped, being lost for words.

"Uhm... I understand them too but they should've took some time for you three, even if they had to sort their arguments just for your sake" Mark said looking at the girl who won't dare to look at him, still surpried on how people who often seemed cheerful has a dark side.

"I know right, they would get upset and leave the house as per their wish. If... If they wanted to be like that then why to take a decision to get me here in this world." Hannah said, her voice sounding low and broken.
