You can just call me Gonbee. I'm not one for talking a lot so I hope I don't mess up telling you this, I mean, telling you my story.

I often got mocked back home in my village hidden deep inside a place called the Mushroom Forest. I along with the other people like me are known as Shroomkids. We are born from nowhere at an appearance of about 8 years old for humans and remain in our childish appearance only growing a little throughout our lives.

We are fully capable of common speech as soon as we appear as well. Capable of walking and simple understanding.

Due to my size I was often picked on by the other kids for roughly 26 years before I had enough and decided to leave the forest I called home.

It was rare for the Shroomkids to leave the forest, but on occasion when we did we would first go to a small village not far from said forest. Here we would begin learning of the outside world.

In this small hamlet I learned several things such as how we were actually on an island with the Mushroom Forest at its center.

Eventually I was lucky enough to meet with a knowledgeable elderly mage who was visiting the village to study the Shroomkids. Due to our rarity, knowledge about us was limited and no one other than Shroomkids could even enter the Mushroom Forest.

So we worked together for many years. He would be my master of magic, and I would help him study my race.

Master taught me more things about the world than the villagers ever could, such as the different races and nations. But the most interesting thing he taught me was magic.

It turned out that Shroomkids had a high chance of being able to use magic the many other races, which came as a surprise for the elderly mage.

I too was surprised, I only about 4 others who could use magic, but when thinking about the total number of Shroomkids in the Mushroom Forest it was considered extremely high.

While I was one of the few that could magic wasn't used much back home and knowledge about it was also extremely limited to the point where it no one really thought about it.

I was excited to learn more about magic, but it turned out my ability was pretty low.

When a water dragon attacked a merchant ship coming to the island I couldn't do anything. I thought this was the end, luckily my master killed it with one blast of his magic. It was amazing to see, but then my master revealed a heavy truth.

"What? What mage couldn't beat a water dragon like that? They are merely D rank monsters." With a grin across his face, "If you work hard enough I think you'll be able to barely beat something like that."

The realization that my magic was weak didn't deter me. I wanted to be able to live in the outside world, even if I could only ever be a weak mage, I'll do it.

After 7 years it was time for my master to continue his journey. I had assumed I would be going with him but he told me that my training was complete and it was time to start my own adventures.

This confused me, I was nowhere as strong as him. Even suggesting that would be laughable to me. But he insisted it was time I moved on.

He recommended a place called Fusiona city far away in the Cerulean Kingdom and handed me a piece of paper and told me it would help me get into any city there.

After my master left I decided to look more into this Cerulean Kingdom and discovered that it was open for adventurers and was well protected by the seas and the oceanic species called the Coral Nymphs..

As I looked over a map I saw a large coastal city called Fusiona. It was the former capital but that was changed when it was decided that it would be better for the royal family to be closer to the center of the nation after several expansions to its borders during the old wars.

The city itself had a prosperous economy and was said to be great for adventurers to begin. So I decided that is where I would go and boarded the next ship going that way.
