I've finally begun taking the test, although the desk I was brought to was too high for me and I was forced to stand on the seat in order to even see the test. Mr Orio was making some comment about that but with how long the test looked I didn't have the time to listen.

The other adventurers had cheered me on, giving me courage to more forward, a stark contrast of my life back home. I felt that I couldn't possibly fail with them behind me. It was a good feeling.

As I turned the test papers over, I saw that the questions looked pretty standard. It started with simple rules of the adventurer's guild followed by identifying simple plants and animals to how to harvest them properly.

The first few pages were actually quite easy.

Next was a test on how to conduct oneself when dealing with a noble. My master did teach me a few things, but it all seemed sort of stuffy for me. I didn't really want to have to deal with a noble anytime soon.

After that was some simple questions on culture, the do's and do not. I had to identify what some of the worst things that could be done in some cultures if I ever met with them or travelled to their lands.

As I went on with the test the questions started getting harder and harder.

I would have to translate some sentences from various languages to common. I had a decent grasp on some of them like Elvin and Dwarven so those weren't a problem.

I had spent some time with a Nekojin when I was with master Moonwalker, and I read a book on simple Dragish the language of the dragonkin. Though I was not confident with these two languages.

The other languages that appeared I had to skip entirely. I could only hope they wouldn't lower my score too much.

Then came the quiz on magic, the basic elements and mana crystals. This was what I spent most of my time learning under Master, so I got through it swiftly.

Next was basic first aid for when out on a quest. I had to put down which plants could be used in an emergency and what was standard to bring on a long journey, how to dress a wound and so on.

Some parts of the test seemed really hard making me wonder if I wasn't ready. But I continued on.

I decided to put down answers for the ones I knew and going back for the rest. I was making good time, but it was quite the challenge.

Eventually I had completed the majority of the test but with several questions I had to go back to I looked up at the sand in the hourglass. But it had all fallen to the bottom.

I couldn't finish the test; all I could do was hope that I got enough right to pass.

Strange!? Mr Orio seemed lost in thought, it seems he didn't notice the hourglass had finished. I got up from my seat and brought the finished test over to him.

"Mr Orio?"

...

"Mr Orio?"

"What, can't you see I'm busy," He called out.

Busy? With what? Were you not supposed to be watching over the test?

"But the hourglass had finished!"

"Huh?" Mr Orio looked dumbfounded. It seems he really wasn't paying attention.

Is that how little he thought of me? Like I'm just a waste of time.

NO!!!

I can't back down now. The test hasn't even been graded yet. I have to show some confidence.

"I'm done."
