Chapter 3 I Met a Hungry Elf

Yesterday I had a pretty hard day, first I was stopped at the gates and interrogated like some sort of criminal, then I was chased all over town with some other kid.

I wasn't able to make it to the adventurer's guild at all. At least I was able to find an inn to stay at for the night.

Now it was morning, and I awoke to noise coming from the dining room directly below my room.

"Ugh... Sleepy..."

I was not used to getting up so early. I may be 36 but members of my race are perpetually children forever, so waking up early doesn't come naturally to us.

I did my best to get out of bed... Ok, falling out of bed with a thud.

"Ow."

Still, I was half asleep, maybe I'll just... "Mmm... Zzz..."

"SHIT IT'S FIVIM THE GLUTTON!" A loud yell came from downstairs once again waking me up.

"SHIT, SHE'LL CLEAR OUT THE PANTRY." More yelling from below.

Glutton? Pantry?

Is someone going to eat all the food? Sounds nice. Mmmm, more sleep...

Zzz...

Wait! If someone eats all the food, then there won't be any left for me!

I decided I needed to get out of bed and downstairs if I was going to have any breakfast... When did I get on the floor?

I was still tired, but I had to get up. Only one thing to do.

I grabbed onto my mushroom hat atop my head, yes we sleep wearing them, and gave it a little shake. The mushroom then released a powder. This powder was a mild stimulant and breathing it in woke me right up.

Finally, I could go downstairs and get some breakfast.

I quickly changed my clothes from the nightgown I was wearing to my adventurer's outfit I had stored in my hat, really how could anyone live without a mushroom hat, and headed downstairs hoping there was still some breakfast left.

Downstairs the guests were laughing it up and chatting. Mii was rushing plates from the tables to the kitchen.

Wait!? It didn't look like he was bringing any food out from the kitchen.

Mii noticed me coming down the stairs.

"Big bro Gonbee, good morning," He shouted all excitedly to see me.

"Morning," I replied, "Could I get some breakfast?"

Mii's happy smile sank into a frown, "I'm sorry, we're sold out already."

SHOCKED!!!

Now what was I going to do? My stomach was growling in hunger.

Mii started to panic, flailing his arms around trying to figure out a solution to my problem.

A voice called out from behind me.

"My bad,"

Turning around I saw a teenaged looking female wearing a leather tunic and a short skirt. She had long blond hair with two long pointed ears sticking out the side of her head. Yes, she was indeed an elf.

"Sorry. I guess I ate all the food again, hahaha," She laughed.

Since I didn't get to eat I didn't find it very funny.

"Let me make it up to you, I know many good food stalls that are set up early. It'll be my treat." She said with a wink.

She then proceeded to give me a long stare.
