Chapter 2; I'm On the Run and I Meet A Slime Kid

With some quick feet and spores from the mushroom atop my head, I was now on the run from the town guard in the maybe not so friendly city of Fushiona.

I'm not sure if I was in trouble with them or not, I seemed to prove that I was okay to enter. But at the same time, I ran from their captain, Miss CoraLina.

"I'm sure she's mad at me now." I told myself as I rounded another corner.

OOF

It felt like I ran into someone as I fell forward onto him.

"HEY, WATCH IT," a voice yelled out as he pushed me off.

Ah, I'm sorry," I said as I quickly got to my feet.

When I looked up to see who I bumped into I saw a young boy almost as short, I mean as tall as I was.

He got to his feet and said, "Watch where you're going."

"Sorry," I apologized with a bow.

"Ugh, no time, I have to go."

It seemed the boy was in a hurry, but as he went around me someone called out.

"THEIR YOU ARE BRAT."

Oh no, a guard found me! He looked different from the others, but I guess that Captain put out a search for me. I didn't want to be clapped in irons, so I turned and started running.

As I was running, I noticed that the boy I ran into was running down a narrow alleyway, small enough that an adult wouldn't squeeze into easily. It looked like a good way to get away from the guard, so I followed behind him.

The alley turned out to be even narrower than I expected, there were a few pieces of old wood planks and roof tiles, but it was easy enough for a kid of my size to quickly squeeze through, an adult like the guard would have to go slow and risk getting stuck if they even tried.

As I appeared on the other end, I noticed that the boy was being surrounded by more guards.

"Wait, there are two of them now?" One of the guards spoke up.

"Well, just catch both of them." Replied another.

What!? I understood why they wanted me, but this kid didn't do anything. Did they somehow come to the conclusion that he and I were working together for some wicked reason? I guess I shouldn't have followed the kid into the alley, now he was in trouble because of me.

"Shit," the boy squealed as the guards closed in.

I took the staff out from my cloak and held it high.

A yellow mushroom quickly grew from the staff before bursting in a brilliant flash of light blinding the guards.

"ARGH" "MY EYES"

The boy who was looking the other way turned back in shock for a few seconds before grabbing my hand pulling me after him.

"Come on, run," he cried.

He was right, we need to run. The guard we escaped from earlier using that narrow alley would catch up soon.

"What was that light?"

I could hear a voice coming from around the corner. Of course, that other guard was already here.

"This way," The boy called as he let go of my hand as we entered another ally.

Unfortunately, this ally wasn't small enough to stop the guards this time, but what it did have was a fence that would be hard for those armored guards to climb over.
