(Marian's POV)

"Bye mum." I hugged her tightly. "Bye dad." I hugged him after I was able to remove myself from mum's tight grip.

"Stay safe." Dad nodded, giving me a small smile.

"When are you coming back home?" Mum asked, making me chuckle.

"Mum I haven't even left yet."

"I know. I mean, are you staying in Hogwarts all the time or are you coming to sleep at home or in your place?"

"I'll have to see. Dumbledore said that both options are fine and I can choose what works the best for me."

"Darling, I think Marian should go before she will be late." Dad placed his hand on mum's shoulder.

I gave both of my parents one last hug before wrapping my scarf loosely around my neck and taking my trunk in my hand. "I'll send you a letter tonight to tell you how my first day went. Bye now." I stepped in the fireplace and waved.

"Bye dear!" They waved back at me before I was swallowed by the green flames.

I stepped out of the fireplace in my own room at Hogwarts. I didn't even notice that the room had one when I visited yesterday. It had been left behind the door just opposite of my bed.

I placed my trunk on top of my bed and started to place some books, and candles around the room to make it feel more like home. The door by the armchair led into a small bathroom. A sink, toilet, bathtub, mirror over the sink and a few shelves on the wall that held three white towels.

I placed one candle by the bathtub and set all my hygiene things on the counter to sort through later. I walked out of the bathroom and picked up my room key from the bed and put it in my pocket before walking out of the room.

I had just stepped out of the wing of professors' and staff's personal quarters when two girls ran in front of me.

"Ginny, Hermione." I smiled at my little sister and her friend who was like a second sister to me.

"Marian! I knew I saw you yesterday. I told Harry and Ron that it was you but they didn't believe me." Hermione smiled. Both of them were wearing pants and warm sweatshirts rather than school uniforms.

"Since you're here, does that mean that you got the job?" Ginny asked excitedly.

"Mhm." I nodded, making the two girls smile widely and give me a hug.

"So where are you going now?"

"I was thinking of taking a short walk around the castle before dinner." I explained.

"Can we join you?" Hermione asked.

I nodded with a smile. "That would be fun."

"The Durmstrang and Beauxbatons are here." Ginny spoke excitedly when we started walking around the school.

"Yes, I heard." I nodded with a smile.

"You should have seen their entrance. Beauxbatons had these blue sparkling butterflies and Durmstrang the firebird. It was a phoenix." Hermione explained. "Beautiful magic. Are you joining us for dinner this evening?"

"Yes. Tonight Dumbledore will introduce me to everyone. I was going to place some furniture in my office after this walk and before dinner."

Hermione's eyes lit up in excitement. "Can we help? I can arrange your books however you want."

"Well there's not much to do there just yet but sure, you two can help." I nodded.

After the small walk we arrived at my new office. I opened the door and immediately saw that some of the bigger furniture had already been sent here. Dark green velvet covered armchair and a brown couch. A wooden desk next to the window. And a tall bookshelf behind my desk.
