Chapter Seven: Rise of Shimika Watuba
*Warning!!!!* This Chapter contains very graphic scenes that some may find unsettling. Readers are therefore cautioned to not read if they fell uncomfortable or triggered by such themes.
In the darkest corners of the undersides of Nuoding City lay a repulsive domain, a hidden lair far from the prying eyes of many. It was adequately massive, shrouded with a powerful force which cloaked it's presence.
In the dim room, lit only by flickering, grimy torches which casted eerie, dancing shadows on the damp, mold-covered walls the air was thick with the stench of rot and decay, mingling with the pungent odor of fear and despair.
The floor was slick with a mix of filth and something much darker, a grim reminder of the unspeakable acts committed within the confines of those walls.
Rusted iron cages lined the perimeter of the room, each one filled with terrified, huddled children. Their eyes were wide with fear and red from crying as some peered out from between the bars, their pleas for help echoing off the soundproof stone walls.
Chains and shackles hung from the ceiling, some still stained with blood, and a variety of cruel-looking instruments obviously meant for torture lay scattered across a wooden table in the center of the room. The table itself was scarred and stained, a testament to the countless victims who had suffered upon it.
The oppressive atmosphere was suffocating, the very air heavy with the weight of despair and hopelessness.
In one corner, a particularly large and grimy cage held a group of children with insect-type martial souls, their unique abilities making them prime targets for the sinister experiments conducted in this dark factory.
Their cries were a haunting symphony of anguish, each voice a desperate plea for release from the nightmare they were trapped in. The walls seemed to close in, amplifying their terror and pain, creating an almost tangible aura of dread that permeated every inch of the room.
Suddenly,a man walked into the room, his bulky form intimidating as his presence alone muted the crying children. His dark grey eyes were filled with complete malice as he walked from cell to cell. Shimika Watuba, a figure of pure dread, exuded an aura of menace that chilled the air around him. His mere presence seemed to suck the light and hope from the room.
His heavy boots clanked against the stone floor, each step echoing ominously. He paused at each cage, scrutinizing the terrified faces within. His cold, calculating gaze settled on the majority of his captives. The children with insect-type martial souls, a cruel smile curling his lips as he assessed the next potential candidates for his twisted experiments.
Watuba's fingers, thick and calloused, tapped rhythmically on the iron bars, sending shivers down the spines of his captives. The children cowered, their breaths quickening as his gaze passed over them. His voice, when he finally spoke, was a low, menacing growl that reverberated through the room.
"Today, another one of you will be chosen," he announced, his words dripping with malevolence. "as sacrifice for the advancement of our cause."
He continued his slow, deliberate inspection, his eyes finally locking onto a boy with delicate, iridescent dragonfly wings folded against his back. The boy's face paled as Watuba's smile widened, revealing yellowed teeth.
"You," Watuba said, pointing a thick finger at the boy. "You're coming with me."
The boy's sobs were stifled by fear as the cage door creaked open. Watuba's grip was unyielding as he dragged the child out, ignoring the pleas and cries from the other children. He was ready for the next sacrifice, and nothing would deter him from his dark purpose.
