Chapter Eight: Rivalries and Nightmares I

Mei Dong entered her dorm room with a dark cloud encircling her. She growled, immediately thrashing and throwing things around. Books, clothes, and all sorts of personal items were scattered across the room as she vented her frustration. Her eyes burning with what seemed to be a mix of anger and disbelief.

"I can't believe this!" she screamed on top of her lunge, voice echoing off the walls like a banshee. "Losing to those lower class scums! How is that even possible?"

Her mind replayed the events of the day, each mistake and misstep gnawing at her pride. The image of Ji Chi, Xiao Wu, Ling Lixue and Tang San, who had performed so effortlessly, only fueled her rage further.

She was always said to be a prodigy, someone who's cultivation was beyond her age yet in the face of such people she appeared so pathetic.

"This isn't over," she muttered to herself with fists clenched tightly that her knuckles turned white. "I'll make them pay. They will regret ever crossing paths with me."

She finally took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Mei Dong knew that her anger needed to be channeled into something far more productive if she was ever going to reclaim her position and prove herself. She had to come up with a plan and annihilate all those who threatened to stand up against her.

She walked over to her desk, clearing away the clutter with a sweeping motion. Grabbing a blank sheet of paper, she began jotting down notes, strategies, and potential weaknesses of her competitors. All their moves and martial souls were still fresh in her mind and she was going to use it against the lowlifes who thought they could surpass her.

"I will surely rise above this." she vowed. "They may have won today, but I will make sure that the next time we face each other, I will be the one standing victorious."

Mei Dong's resolve hardened as she meticulously planned her comeback. She would not let this defeat be the end of it. Instead, it would serve as the catalyst for her relentless pursuit of excellence and retribution. After all she did not carry the Dong family name without a reason.

In the aftermath of her mental breakdown was when her two roommates and very close allies entered the dorm room, stopping in their tracks at the sight of the chaos.

The first one, Lin Hua, rolled her eyes, flipping her natural green hair back as she went to her bed. "Again, Mei?" she said with a sigh. "You really need to learn how to lose gracefully. It's just getting embarrassing now."

The other one, Wei Sheng, glared at Mei, pushing up his glasses as he spoke. "What is the meaning of this, Mei?" he demanded. "Do you have any idea how disruptive this is? We have studies and training to focus on, and your tantrums are getting in the way. Why are you behaving so childishly?"

Mei Dong shot them both a venomous look, her eyes a toxic purple as she hissed out a response."None of you understand! Losing to those low-class scums is unacceptable. I won't tolerate it. We— I am better than that. I am glorious!"

Lin Hua shrugged, unfazed by Mei's outburst. "Yeah, gloriously petty!" She spoke out with a dumbfounded expression one which made Mei Dong's eye twitch.

"What is wrong with the both of you! Have you forgotten why we are here in the first place and what we need to be actually focusing on." She hissed. "We are all prodigies, selected as the best and were given this mission to finally prove ourselves to be worthy disciples of Martial soul hall. Now how can we do that if we can't stay on top in this sorry excuse of martial soul school."

Lin Hua looked completely uninterested, busy trying to pop a pimple on her left cheek. "Whatever, Mei. Just clean up your mess, because I want to sleep. We're all in the same academy, and causing a scene won't change anything." She had heard her friend monologue those entire lines like a holy scripture, so much so that she believed Mei Dong had left it practically implanted in her brain.
