Woodland Whispers & Loki's Love

Part 11 - Progress

The sun creeped through my curtains and I lazily placed a pillow over my face to block the light. As the weeks have passed summer was here and a whisp of warm air danced into my room. The plants sang in the morning light and I resigned myself to getting out of bed. I had been feeling more fatigued recently and slept in much later than usual. As I made my way into the kitchen a few people were already awake.

"I don't think I've ever been up before you y/n" Sam said in shock and he walked over and placed a hand on my forehead "Are you feeling okay?" he asked, half in concern and half joking. I shook him off gently and made my way to the coffee machine. I had been cooped up inside the last few days, busy with training and then sleeping after training. As the coffee woke me up I began to realise how stir-crazy I felt. I needed to get out. After a quick ask round there was no one who wanted to join me for a walk and so I headed up to my barwen to change.

I pulled on a pair of shorts and my favourite shirt, I had been gifted it from Clint as part of my Secret Santa present on my first team Christmas. It was an oversized cream top, with the word MILF in large letters at the top, and pictures of different frogs underneath. Below the frogs it read 'Man I love frogs'. The team had found this incredibly funny and I wore it more than once before anyone cared to share the joke with me.

As I stepped out of my room I hesitated for a second. I took a deep breath and found the courage to walk across the hall and knock on Loki's door. The door opened to reveal the god, wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and dark, fitted jeans. He looked strikingly handsome, his hair falling softly around his face. While I stood before him, wearing a frog shirt and no shoes.

As he saw me a charming smile played across his lips. He leant against the doorframe, "Lady y/n, to what to I owe the pleasure?" his usual mischievous smile was tempered by a hint of sincerity in his gaze. "I am going to go for a little walk around the woods outside, and I was wondering if you wanted to join me?". Loki looked surprised "I do not believe that my brother or Stark would take kindly to my leaving this compound" he said cautiously. I shrugged "The forest that surrounds the compound, right up to the water's edge is owned by the Avengers, it's technically all part of the compound" I said with a mischievous grin.

As we made our way downstairs I shot a quick text to Wanda, letting her know I was going for a walk and that Loki was coming with me. I got a near instant set of messages from Tony.

"Share your location"

"If you're not back in 65 minutes I will assume you dead and start a war"

"I'm serious"

"I'll send drones and everything"

"SHARE YOUR LOCATION!!!!"

I laughed and shared my location on the group chat, with the words "In case of kidnapping" and popped my phone on silent and into the pocket of my shorts.

We wandered down the open space between the main building and the line of trees, I found myself once again grateful that I came to the avengers after they moved upstate. While the campus of white glassy buildings was very unnatural, it was truly beautiful amongst the trees. As we reached the tree line I looked up at Loki, he was watching my cautiously. "Is something the matter Loki?" I asked, he looked down at my feet "Lady y/n, are you aware that you have forgotten your shoes?" he asked with his eyebrow raised. I grinned, "shoes are feet prisons Loki, and I refuse to imprison my toes". He let out a slight snort of amusement.

We walked for a while in comfortable silence, "Do you know what I appreciate about you Lady y/n?" I stopped still, "I didn't realise you appreciated anything about me Loki" I joked. He rolled his eyes, "Very few people understand the serenity of silence, I enjoy that you see it too, with no want for needless chatter". I smiled at him "I do think that there is a time for chatter, if you gave it a chance you might enjoy it on occasion". He looked mildly insulted and we wandered on.
