"You really outdid yourself" Vegas said "I thought I knew how fuck up you were but..." he chuckled bitterly and shook his head "You must have be laughing your ass off everytime you looked at me, didn't you? Having a blast while knowing about the kid while I had no idea"
Vegas looked up at the night sky feeling the tears in his eyes
"Fucking asshole. That's what you are..." he said when he looked back at the ground
"Always had been" Vegas turned around to see Macau walking towards him
"What are you doing here?" Vegas asked and turned back to look at the ground
"Looking for you, duh" Macau rolled his eyes "It took me a while. I was checking all the possible spots I thought you might be at. The club, the casino, even our old compound... anything I could think of" he continued and stopped next to his brother, glanced at the ground for a moment and then looked back at Vegas
"Do you think that talking to dad's grave is really something you should be doing right now?" he raised his eyebrows and looked from Vegas to the ground where Gun was buried. Unmarked grave in the middle of nowhere. Exactly what he deserved, it was probably more than what he deserved to be honest.
"I had to tell him that he's a piece of shit for what he did" Vegas muttered
"And you switched off your phone to make sure to freak out Pete as much as possible?" Macau asked and Vegas swallowed nervously
"I didn't mean to. I didn't want him to worry" Vegas shook his head
"Well he does worry" Macau said "Anyway... if you are quite done talking to dirt, can we head home?" Macau added
"Go ahead. I'll be there shortly" Vegas said and looked at Macau when his brother snorted in amusement
"I'll leave you here and you'd be capable just spend the rest of your life here, Vegas"
"No I just... I just need a moment to..."
"What you need is to go home to your family, Vegas" Macau shook his head "To be with your boyfriend and your son" he added
"I am not his father" Vegas said quietly "I can't be. I don't have it in me to be anyone's father, Macau" he continued but looked at his brother who started to laugh. Very amused and with no holding back
"Oh sorry you were not joking?" Macau asked when he noticed the way Vegas was looking at him
"Do I look like I am in a mood for making fucking jokes?" Vegas growled
"I really hope so because the alternative is that you went completely insane and now you babbling total nonsense" Macau said with a little shrug and Vegas looked confused at what he was hearing
"I hate to burst your bubble, Vegas, but you've been a dad since you were like eight years old" Macau said "Who was taking care of me my whole life? Gun or you?" he added when he could still see a confusion in Vegas's eyes
"It's... it's... that's not..." Vegas was failing to disagree with what Macau just said
"It's not what? Vegas you would do anything for the people you care about. You would do anything to keep your family safe. Venice couldn't wish for a better father. And you would hardly find a better kid. He's really great and you'll find out that the moment you stop hanging out with some dead asshole instead of with your son" Macau glanced at the grave before he placed his hand on Vegas's shoulder.
Vegas was trying to process what Macau just said while wondering when exactly Macau became taller than him. When did his little brother become taller and more importantly actually seemingly quite wise.
