"Sophie!" Biana shouted. "My good match list came in!"
Sophie grinned at her best friend. "Awesome, so did mine."
"Did you look at yours?" Biana asked.
"We all agreed to wait until we all got them," she stated, talking about their friend group.
After they didn't get any abilities, Jensi and Marella weren't able to join them in the Elite levels and now that they're all out, the two haven't even contacted them.
Fitz, Dex, Keefe, and Biana became the only friends Sophie had.
"Well, tell everyone to come to Havenfield tonight and we'll all open our papers together," Sophie stated, putting food in Iggy's cage.
And tell them that Sandor will not be listening in, she transmitted, watching her door carefully. She had her bodyguard since she was thirteen, and although they grew close over all the years, she still had moments where all she wanted was for him to go away.
Biana nodded. "So, who do you want to be on your list?"
"I don't want to get my hopes up," she said, thinking of Fitz and Keefe.
Biana smirked. "Yeah, but we all know who I want."
"Hey, did you peek at your list?" Sophie asked, eyes narrowed.
Biana huffed. "Only at the first ten names."
"Who'd you get?"
"The only person I know on there is Dex. He was number three."
Sophie cover her mouth and tried not to laugh.
"It's not funny!"
"It's kind of funny."
"Mm-hmm, says the one he has a crush on," she teased.
"Come on, we all know he hasn't had a crush on me since we were fifteen. Remember? It's when he started liking that level three girl. . . In fact, he still likes her. He sends her letters in the Elite towers and everything. I'm his best friend, I know this stuff."
Biana frowned. "Darn it, I was rooting for you guys."
"And in was rooting for you and Keefe but apparently that's not happening," Sophie said with a sad sigh, one that Biana joined.
"I've liked him since he became friends with Fitz and I know be doesn't like me, it's obvious who he likes," she looked at Sophie knowingly, "and if she's on his list, I have no doubt they'll end up together."
Sophie shrugged. "Maybe he's lower on your list."
"Even if he's on my list, I doubt it'll happen. All I know, is that if him and my brother are on your list, you better choose wisely." She gave Sophie a pointed look.
Sophie held her arms up, a dark blush on her face.
"Are your parents here?" Biana asked, smiling.
"No, but they promised they'd be here tonight when the rest of you are here," Sophie said.
"What are they doing right now?"
Sophie frowned. "I. . . Honestly, I don't know. So, your brother and Keefe know to come here tonight, right?"
"Um. . . I don't know. Can you transmit Fitz?" Biana raised her eyebrows.
Sophie nodded. "Yeah."
Fitz, you and Keefe are still coming here tonight, right? She transmitted.
Yeah, why? He transmitted back.
Just checking. Hey, I've got to go see Silvney, I'll see you tonight.
Keefe said to tell Glitterbutt he said hi. He also said to stop flirting.
Sophie's cheeks tinted red slightly. Bye.
She blocked him quickly and turned to Biana. "Yeah, they're coming. I'm going to go tell Dex then go see Silveny."
"Okay, I'll go to my house then. If Grady or Edaline come in after I leave tell them I said hi," Biana said before taking her home crystal.
Sophie took in a deep breath and turned to look at her paper.
Just one look, she thought, couldn't hurt.
She took one tiny peak and only one name caught her eye, and he was her number two.
Keefe Sencen.
