SURPRISE CHARACTER GUEST IN THIS CHAPTER BOOM (I didn't even know I was going to have her in here until right now when I realized I wanted to do some more stuff with other characters and this will really affect stuff and yeah.)
a/n: literally dying to read Neverseen. I read the excerpt and I'm pissed I didn't listen to my sister (aka, my real life conscience) because she told me that it would make me feel empty and wanting more but nope, I just couldn't listen to her and had to go read it. Gah, I hate my sister. She's the reason I haven't done a lot of fun things in my life (But also the reason I didn't accidentally die from doing them) xD
AND GUYS MY FRENCH TEST WAS REALLY EASY AND ENDED UP NOT HAVING THE VOCAB THEY LEARNED WITHOUT ME AND I'M LIKE GOD WAS ON MY SIDE YESTERDAY. apparently he's also on my side today because i had an assembly during my second bell meaning I skipped English and don't have to revise my paragraph full of random crap that makes no sense for English until Wednesday (yeah i thought it was due yesterday and ended up putting random crap together in two seconds and I hope I don't have to hand in the rough draft because it is poop.)
current mood is Bea Miller songs. . .
THIS NOTE IS LONGER THAN I WANTED IT TO BE I'M SORRY BOOK NOW:
"Sophie, someone is here to see you," Edaline said, walking into her room.
"Who?" Sophie asked, frowning. "Today is Saturday so it's not Keefe or Fitz, and Dex just left to go hang out with Biana. . . And Ashla is doing wedding planning stuff with her mom and Della."
"Hey," Marella said, poking her head in from outside the door. "I need to talk to you."
"I'm going to go make some custard bursts," Edaline said, dismissing herself. Sophie gestured for Marella to walk inside.
"What do you want?" Sophie asked. "We haven't talked in years."
Marella bit her lip. "I don't want to be stuck with Cael for the rest of my life. It was a huge mistake but the council won't listen to me, and I need your help. Aren't humans allowed to split up before their weddings?"
Sophie frowned at her. "Aren't elves?"
"Only with real reason," Marella said. "I'm asking-no, I'm begging you to help me fix this. We aren't even a good match, we're a really really bad match."
"You'd think you'd be happy getting a husband with an ability even though you don't have one," Sophie said, frowning.
Marella sighed. "All this time all I wanted was to get better than Stina but. . . In reality, the only way I can imagine beating Stina is finding someone who I truly love and who loves me. I think whoever ends up happier will win, and so far she way happier than me. She's got an amazing boyfriend. . . Friends. . ." Marella took in a deep breath. "I want a relationship like Maruca and Valin. . . Maruca was super popular but she loved him and gave it up for him-I want love like that."
Sophie smiled softly at her former friend. "I'll try and help you as much as I can."

"I want to speak with Bronte," Sophie told Maisha, one of the councilors who fell into the background of everyone and wasn't close to Sophie at all.
"Miss. Foster, I'm not sure he is up to visitors right now. He is going through some very important paperwork and-"
"Please, Councilor Maisha," Sophie begged. "It'll be really quick and he won't be blowing steam out of his ears at the end! Promise!"
Maisha sighed, rolling her eyes. "If you take longer than twenty minutes I'll go in there and drag you out myself."
Sophie nodded, and saluted her before knocking on Bronte's door. "Come in," he mumbled.
"Hey, Bronte," Sophie greeted before closing the door behind her and sitting down on a seat in front of his desk. She looked down at his papers for a split second before looking back up at him. He quickly flipped over his papers. She frowned. "Is that classified?"
He shook his head. "I'll tell you after you tell me why you're here."
"It's about the Marella and Cael situation," she started. "I'm confused. Why won't you let them call the wedding off?"
He sighed. "We will. For right now we're just making sure they realize how serious this situation is."
"Marella came to me, after years of not speaking, and begged for help. They understand, or at least she does. Trust me." Sophie sat up in her chair. "You're going to call it off before they actually start getting serious with the plans, right?"
He nodded. "We're not stupid, Miss. Foster. We know what we're doing."
Sophie scoffed. "You guys aren't that smart." He sent her a glare, so she changed the subject. "So, what are the papers about?"
"We're making a new rule for councilors. . . It's strictly classified but considering you're one of the main reasons we're making it, you should probably know." He sighed. "We're trying to make it so you can become a councilor if you are married if you get a 95% rate from the voters, and if you have more than one ability with total control over them."
"You're. . . making it harder for people to become councilors?" She frowned. "And why me? I'm in a serious relationship, and that's-"
"This rule applies to the married elves." His eyes started to warm up. "By the time we publish this rule we're hoping you'll be married to Keefe. It might take a while, maybe years, to get it there. Until then, we want you to become a keeper."
Her eyes widened. "But. . . You'd need an open spot for me to come in anyways and don't you choose between Foxfire's people an-"
"Sophie, this is still in the works. We'd need to work around stuff. All we know is we want you to be a councilor. You have wisdom beyond your years and abilities everyone else could only dream of." He stared at her, his eyes filled with so much pride. "And, there will be an open spot on the councilors when this is finalized."
"What do you mean?" She frowned. He turned the paper, which she realized was actually a scroll. "What is this?" She asked, looking up at him.
"I've been a councilor for far too long. I'm ancient and stuck in olden times. We need people who have minds of what people need now. This is the best way." he nodded for her to pick up the scroll.
She picked up the scroll and her eyes enlarged two sizes when she read a little note at the top.
There isn't many people we could fit you with because we couldn't get a hole lot of many other ancient people you might take a liking too, and many are not open for relationships. Sorry this is all I could do- DH
Councilor Bronte's Matchmaking List.
"It's time I settle down and meet someone, anyways. Of course this won't be happening until the rule is finalized. . . " Bronte trialed off. Sophie's jaw dropped.
(i've been planning this plot twist since the beginning of times. IT'S FINALLY HERE. don't kill me for making him such a mush. i still need to see if i passed that test )
