At school on Monday, Alex rushed to me as he saw me in the hallway. " Luke, I made something for you." He said, panting as if her ran a marathon. He removed his backpack from his shoulders and pulled out a canvas. He flipped it over, and my jaw hit the floor. " Alex, it's beautiful, and it's blue and purple." I said smiling.(The painting was of the beach at night with blue and purple clouds, and blue and purple sky, and blue and purple water that reflected the white moon.) "Why did you want to do this?" I asked curiously. " The beach is one of my favorite places, and it's a lot more amazing at night. It's like you Luke you're amazing." He said. I smiled at the painting then at him, and my cheeks turned bright red. I think he noticed because he stared at the floor and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. Emily walked by us and winked at me and made a kissy face at me, and pointed to Alex. I rolled my eyes. " Seriously, dude, thank you so much. I didn't know you could paint." I said. "It's just something I do for fun. I'm not like an expert at it or anything." He said, looking at my feet. " Not an expert? you are amazing at it." I said, smiling. I hugged him tightly, and he hugged me just as tight. As soon as I got home from school that day, I hung that painting in my room, and every time I looked at it, I thought about Alex and his cute face.
