You can pretend you don't care
All you wanna do is kiss me (Me)
Oh what a shame, I'm not there

"Aurelia, how about you answer."

Aurelia snapped out of her thoughts about Billie and groaned—she hated it when teachers did that. She refocused on the question on the board and smirked; it was an easy one, and the teacher seemed to think she'd be caught off guard.

"Umm...so the horizontal range we use the formula over there... where v0v_0 represents the initial velocity, θ\theta is the launch angle, and gg stands for the acceleration due to gravity, so then we just substitute the numbers from word problem, which gives R=v02sin⁡(2θ)gR = \frac{{v_0^2 \sin(2\theta)}}{{g}}." Aurelia swiftly entered these values into her calculator; a routine task for her. "So...The range is approximately 91.84 meters," She concluded confidently. The teacher smiles nodding her head, before turning back to the board

"Very good, thank you, Aurelia."

At the end of class, as the bell rang and students hurriedly flooded out the door, Aurelia found herself stopped by her teacher just before she could join the bustling stream of her classmates.

"Aurelia, could I speak to you for one moment."

Aurelia turned her head around, nodding slowly as she made her way over to her physics teacher. She had a fondness for her teacher; the woman was always so supportive and kind to her.

"Aurelia, you are a brilliant student, it's very clear to me you have knack for physics, your papers reflect that..I just wish you contributed in class with out me picking on you, honey" Her teacher starts. "I would love to give you a better mark on your report if the only things missing is you sharing your thoughts with the class. But...I also have noticed your daydreams, you are usually very focused, is something on your mind?" she asks tentatively.

Aurelia sighed softly, nodding slowly in affirmation. She trusted her teacher.

"Yeah...I'm just having conflicting thoughts at the moment about my friendship with a certain person...I know I shouldn't let it get in the way of my work it's just...hard" As Aurelia speaks, she unexpectedly feels tears sting in her eyes, the teacher nods understandingly

"That's okay honey, I get it, trust me" She speaks with an attentive smile, standing up and pulling her into a warm hug. It was a gesture that always made Aurelia feel appreciated and valued.

"go to your next class sweetie." Aurelia nodded into her teacher's chest, giving her a tight squeeze filled with gratitude before finally walking out of the room. As she reached the doorway, she turned back to wave goodbye, a smile spreading across her face.

"Bye, Miss."

"Bye, Aurelia."

At the end of the day, Aurelia stepped out through the school gates squeezing between the crowded bodies, the heat of the dry air punching her in the face, as she walked a block down to her bus stop. Sitting on the bench, she was surrounded by the distant hum of passing cars and the intermittent squeaks of birds. With quiet patience, she waited for her bus, her gaze occasionally drifting to the cars that passed by.

After a while, her bus finally approached the stop. She got off the bench, walked over, and raised her hand to flag it down. As she waited for the bus to stop, it continued past her without hesitation. Aurelia's face fell in disbelief as she watched the bus ignore her completely and zoom off into the distance. She stood there for a moment, stunned and bewildered, trying to process what had just happened.
