The two left Emily's apartment and started walking to the cafe down the street. It was the place where they had first met. Emily's card had declined, and Daniel offered to pay. The cafe ended up comping the order since Emily was a regular, which always bothered Daniel a little, feeling it ruined their perfect story. But he was happy he still got the girl in the end.

As they arrived at the cafe, Daniel opened the door for Emily. She joked, "The place we first met... or I guess... now it's the place where I first met a part of you." Emily giggled at her own joke, but Daniel didn't like how it seemed to set his situation into permanence. He was still banking on this whole thing reversing somehow.

The two approached the front counter to place their order. "Hey, Emily! The usual?" the barista said.

"Make it iced today, Jacob," Emily responded.

"Sure thing! And for your friend?" the barista asked, looking at Daniel.

Daniel opened his mouth to order, but Emily beat him to it, "She'll have an iced Americano, no sugar."

"No way! Same as Daniel," the barista said with a slight laugh. "And you'll never believe the best part, her name is Dani," Emily told the barista.

"Shut the fuck up!" the barista responded. "You can't be serious."

Daniel, feeling as if he'd gone too long without saying anything, said, "She's telling the truth... I'm Danny."

"Well then, Dani, that's one iced chai latte and one iced Americano with no sugar. That'll be $12.49," the barista said.

"Here, I've got it," Emily said, tapping her phone. The two stepped aside while they waited for their drinks.

"I'll go grab us a table," Emily said as she walked off.

Daniel felt as uncomfortable as ever standing alone in this new body for the first time since it all happened. He suddenly noticed all the things that were different: the hair touching the back of his neck, the way his shirt clung to every part of his body, and the pants riding up his butt. In the middle of his panic, he heard, "Dani... Dani! Your drinks are ready."

Daniel smiled and approached the counter. "Thanks, man," he said. The barista, a little thrown off by the comment, let out a short laugh and said, "It was nice meeting you, Dani. Will I see you around sometime?"

"Uh... yeah, maybe... not sure how long I'll be staying with Emily," Daniel responded. I don't think a barista has ever asked me if they'll see me around... strange, he thought.

"Okay, cool! Well, enjoy your drinks," the barista said as Daniel picked them up off the counter.

"Yeah, I will. Have a nice day, Jacob," Daniel said as he turned around to head to the table. As Daniel got to Emily, he noticed the name on his coffee was spelled "Dani." It hadn't even occurred to him they were thinking Dani with an 'i.' Up until now, Daniel had been thinking "Danny" with a "y," as he was used to seeing his nickname spelled that way.

Looking visibly bothered, Emily asked, "Is everything alright, babe?"

"Yeah... yeah... I'm just not used to seeing Dani with an 'i,'" Daniel said.

"You've got to admit, that was pretty quick thinking coming up with your name on the spot like that," Emily said with pride.

"I mean, I didn't even realize it was also a feminine name when you said it. I just thought of Danny with a 'y' and didn't think much of it," Daniel said.

"You know what else is weird though..." Daniel said to Emily, "Jacob asked if he'd see me around. Like, I don't think I've ever had a barista or anyone, for that matter, ask that after I only spoke one sentence to them."

Emily laughed. "Well, I think based on the fact he wrote his number on your cup... he is planning on seeing you 'around.'"

Daniel spun his cup around. "What the fuck... I didn't even notice. Jacob and I are bros. This is so wrong."

"You're not bros anymore," Emily said, still laughing. "First time in public as a chick and you've already got some guy's number. If that isn't peak girlhood, I don't know what is."

"Well, I don't like it!" Daniel said with a disgusted look on his face.

"Well, unfortunately, you don't get to have opinions anymore, Dani. Just sip your coffee and look pretty for me," Emily said jokingly.

Daniel shook his head as he sipped his coffee. He looked behind him and noticed Jacob staring at him. Daniel quickly turned back around. "Can we drink our coffees somewhere else? Jacob is staring at me."

"Yeah, whatever," Emily said as she grabbed her purse and started to stand up. She looked towards the front of the store and mouthed "sorry" to Jacob. He laughed and waved it off. The two left the cafe through the door furthest from the front.
