A/n : Oh my God!😅 Please forgive me guys for the late update. My phone got stolen so I had to wait till my dad bought me a new one .

Then I had to transfer everything from my old phone to this one. Then I kinda lost my touch with writing. But I'm back and ready.

Please enjoy this chapter too and don't forget to vote and comment.

P.S : I was watching " What happened to Secretary Kim" so I didn't have time to write, so I'm sorry but I'm back.

At the outskirts of the city, the late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the orphanage playground as Cheng Qi sat on a weathered wooden bench, lost in thought.

His fingers absently tapped on his phone, the screen displaying the latest figures from his online consulting app he was collaborating in with a peer.

A small smile tugged at his lips; the business was growing steadily, each yuan earned a step towards true independence.

He didn't want to depend on the Fu's money, so all the money they give to him periodically, he give to the orphanage. They need it more than he did.

A gentle tug on his trouser leg pulled Qi from his reverie. Looking down, he met the wide-eyed gaze of little Tuan, a boy no older than five. Tian's toothy grin was infectious as he held up a star-shaped lollipop.

"Here you go, big brother Qi!" Tian chirped, his eyes shining with gratitude. " Sister Ming said I should come give you this."

Cheng Qi turned back to see Sister Ming abit far away surrounded by smiling children. She was one of the caretakers of the orphanage and a long time friend from when he was also in he orphanage as well.

Sadly, she was never adopted and when she reached eighteen where she would attain the freedom to leave the orphanage, she decided to devote her life to it.

Cheng Qi felt a warmth spread through his chest as he adjusted his glasses and scooped up the boy.

"Thank you, Tian," he replied, accepting the sweet treat. The weight of the child in his arms was a comfort, a reminder of why he kept coming back here.

As he set Tian down and watched him scamper off to join his friends, Qi's mind drifted to his own childhood.

The uncertainty, the longing for belonging, and then the joy of finding a family – humble as they were. Now, that same family's disapproval of his situation with Fu Shiyun hung heavy on his heart.

His phone buzzed, interrupting his thoughts. Dr. Zhang, his supervisor at the medical school.

"Dr. Zhang," He answered, his voice taking on a more formal tone.

"Cheng Qi, I hope I'm not interrupting anything important," Dr. Zhang's crisp voice came through.

"Not at all, sir. How can I help you?"

"I've been reviewing your latest research proposal on pediatric immunology. It's quite impressive. However, I have a few questions about your methodology. Can you come over before I leave the office today?"

Cheng Qi looked at the children playing. He hadn't visited in quite a while and only just came. He was a bit reluctant to leave but decided to go. H could always make time and come at a later date.

" Sure Doctor Zhang. I will be there soon."

" Good." His supervisor cut the call. He leaned back against the bench and took a deep sigh. He had to go back to hospital again. Even though he loved his profession, it was still such a drag being there all the time.
