Harvey stomps into Jessica's office looking furious and mildly embarrassed.

"I'm gonna go." Kate mouths as she begins to stand up.

Even though she wasn't facing him Harvey holds a hand out. "No stay." Kate sighs as her opportunity to escape vanishes.

"Gerald Tate fired the firm." She whispers to him in warning.

Harvey throws his hands up looking toward Jessica. "So you're taking my promotion away."

Jessica scoffs. "You know, most firms would put you in front of the bar and have your licence stripped. You lied to a client and he figured it out."

"I lied to him to get him to do the right thing and honour his contract, and you didn't seem to mind so much when you thought I got away with it." He argues but Jessica stares him down. "But you didn't get away with it. And I can't justify handing you a promotion on the same day that you lose a huge a client."

"One client doesn't make a firm."

She shakes her head at him and gestures toward the halls. " I don't know if you've noticed but we're in the middle of an economic meltdown, companies aren't exactly lining up to spend money on attorneys right now. And, you know, Gerald might have forgiven the lying had you not humiliated him, but you did and you need to accept that."

He points at her sternly. "Jessica, if you hadn't done as much for me as you have, I'd be heading for the door."

Jessica only scoffs. "If I hadn't done as much for you as I have, I'd be throwing you out the window."

Harvey storms out and Kate sighs.

"Don't tell me you feel bad for him?" Jessica questions. "You and I both know he had it coming."

"Of course I do, it's Harvey." She hides a smile. "But he's my husband for a reason, he'll be back."

"I don't see that kind of sympathy for Louis."

"Of course not, it's Louis."

Jessica raises an amused eyebrow at the woman. "You know it took a picture of you wearing a prom queen sash and a very unsettling young adult Louis for me to believe you two were actually related."

"I'm still trying to process it." Kate jokes as she looks back down to her files.

"The fact that Harvey married a Litt is even crazier." Jessica shakes her head.

"He hadn't met Louis yet." She shrugs in response.

Jessica's door swings back open and Kate's head snaps up.

Harvey slams his palms on Jessica's desk. "Here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna give me back my promotion and that's the last we're gonna talk about this."

"And why is that?" Jessica narrows her eyes.

He begins pacing. "Because if you don't, I'm gonna go across town and join Rick Peterson. I'm gonna approach every client I've ever closed and I'm gonna take them with me. And I'm taking my wife."

Kate tuts him. "No you're not."

"You do that and you'll force me to put you in front of the ethics board." Jessica's face drops.

"I don't think you will." He shakes his head. "Because you are obligated to notify them the second I lied to Gerald but you didn't. You put me in front of the board right now, I'll put you right up there with me."

Jessica turns her chair facing the window and sighs, not noticing Kate give Harvey a glare. "I'll, um, I'll give you your promotion. But you have to do something for me."

"Anything." He responds with while waiving Kate's expression off.

"Pro bono." The managing partner says as she hands him a file.

He steps back as if scared. "Anything but that."

"Pro bono cases show that we are a firm that cares about more than money." Kate slowly tells him. "That we care about more than just ourselves. It sets us apart from other firms."

Jessica gestures toward the woman in agreement but Harvey groans. "I'm not saying we shouldn't do them. I'm saying I shouldn't do them."

" And it's how you can show me that you care about more than just yourself. You'll handle this yourself, you will not pass it off."

"Absolutely." He nods and Kate shakes her head knowing he had Mike waiting in his office.

After he leaves Jessica looks toward her dear friend with a sulking glance. "How long do you think till he hands it off?"

"I'd bet my net worth he's doing it as we speak." Kate snorts.

"I have to at least try." Jessica sighs. "I need him to show that he cares."

"I think you'll see that this new associate isn't any ordinary associate." Kate smiles to herself as Jessica gives her a doubtful frown.

Kate exits the bathroom wearing only her bathroom and notices her husband was just getting home and taking off his suit jacket.

She greets him with a kiss and begins untying his tie for him. "How was Mikes first day?"

Harvey looks slightly offended. "What about my day?" She pauses to give him a look and he sighs. "Well wife, he couldn't even fill out a subpoena."

Throwing the tie on the dresser she then begins unbuttoning his dress shirt. "You hired him knowing that he didn't go to law school. He may know the law like the back of his hand but he was never taught the technique or paperwork behind it."

"I've given the kid a chance, he needs to work for it." Harvey shrugs.

"I noticed the 50 grand clear from our account." She attempts to hide her smile as he throws off the rest of his shirt and takes a seat on the bed. At the unimpressed glance he gave her she giggles and wraps her arms around his neck. "You care for him."

"He would have taken the 25 no problem, you know?" He grunts.

"We have more than enough my dear husband." She runs her hand through his hair as he melts into her. "It doesn't hurt to give him a little extra."

"And we worked for every penny." He points out.

"I just have a special feeling about this kid." She smiles.

"Enough about Mike." He groans as he lays down and pulls her with him. "Tell me about your trip."

"Papa sends his regards, as does Elizabeth." She softly smiles at the thought of her father and younger sister. "Though he wishes you would've come with."

Harvey sighs looking slightly apologetic as he brushes a hair behind her ear. "You know I can't leave work right now."

Kate's smile slightly dims. "I know, I know."

Harvey pulls her head to his chest and kisses her forehead. "Let's get some sleep, it's been a long day."

Kate nods and closes her eyes as the weight in her chest becomes a little heavier at his careless dismissal.
