IN THE CAFETERIAMany students are talking, laughing, and just so much chattering in the cafeteria. It bothered me since I don't like crowded places that much.
"Ugh... it's pretty loud," I thought to myself as I put on my headphones for music.
It may have been loud, but at our table, it was awkwardly quiet. I glanced at the others; some were eating awkwardly, staring at their food, others sleeping or playing with their food.
I heard someone decide to break the awkward silence. Lowering my music slightly to hear who was speaking, I heard Tyler say by the window, "I think we should go back to Savannah."
I looked up at him, seeing his irritated, tired face looking at us with his hand on his cheek. Everyone else looked at him surprised.
Logan hesitated but decided to speak up. "I thought everyone agreed it's too dangerous...?"
I looked down at my hand as Tyler responded, "So what? Are we just supposed to let things stay as they are?" Then I heard Ashlyn comment, "I'd rather be semi-stuck than permanently stuck."
I nodded slightly at that, then looked over at Ashlyn beside me. "Well," I turned my gaze to Tyler as he continued, "maybe if you had told us the truth from the beginning, we wouldn't be stuck at all!"
My eyes widened as he assumed it was Ashlyn's fault. I placed my hand on the table, about to stand up to speak, but then heard Ashlyn respond from my side, "I already explained why I didn't-" She was cut off by Aiden on her left. "Aren't you one to talk?"
I muttered to myself before he continued, "Here we go." "You're the one who brushed it off as a prank and walked off." I looked at his little creation with his food then shifted my gaze to him. "If she had said anything, would you have even believed her? With your personality, I seriously doubt it." Aiden looked at him with a smirk as he finished.
SLAM!
Tyler slammed the table, causing all of us to flinch as he angrily yelled, "Whether I would have believed it or not, she should have said something! Now we're stuck in some demonic dimension, running away from flesh-eating deadly creatures-"
I noticed someone side eyeing at us weirdly from Logan's side. I watched them scoot away with their food while Tyler continued to yell.
"I've lost count of how many near-death experiences I've had, none of us have slept in days, we can't tell our parents or any-"
BAM!
Another loud noise startled everyone. I groaned quietly, holding onto my nose bridge, irritated by the sudden noise again. "Why do we have to keep hitting the table?" I thought to myself, then glanced at Ben, shushing Tyler.
I looked at Tyler to see his reaction. I watched him with an amused smirk, seeing him slowly sit back down in his seat.
He shivered and spoke up a bit softer, "If we don't go back to Savannah where this all began... then what else are we supposed to do?" The realization hit, and silence filled the table.
I thought to myself, "I never thought of this. Maybe he's right. If we go back to where it all began, we'll be able to find out what's happening and probably escape. Ugh... that isn't even where mine started."
SHOULD WE RISK IT?
TWO WEEKS AGO
6:30 AM, early in the morning. My alarm went off beside me on the bed. I turned it off immediately after just one ring. I had been awake the whole time.
I groggily groaned and held my head, covering my eyes with my palm. I hadn't gotten enough sleep because of preparation for tonight and couldn't manage to get a bit more sleep afterwards.
I weakly sat up on the bed then winced, holding onto my wrist. It stung. I shook my wrist a bit to lessen the stinging and then stood up, getting out of bed to walk to the bathroom.
I splashed my face with water to wake myself up before taking a shower. Afterwards, I dried my hair with my towel and brushed it.
I grabbed my clothes from the sink and put them on: just a normal star t-shirt and jorts.
I left my bathroom, grabbed my messenger bag from the floor, and picked up my phone from the bed. I slowly opened the door then headed downstairs.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw my father was already awake, grabbing a beer from the fridge.
I stayed silent, deciding to skip breakfast. I sped up my walking to the front door, holding the strap on my bag.
"Marvis."
I froze on the spot, holding the doorknob. I turned my head to look at my father with narrowed eyes. I looked at him, replying firmly, "Yes?"
"Buy me more when you get home, useless assh0le," he said while raising his beer.
I nodded and turned away, rolling my eyes. I opened the front door and softly shut it behind me. I leaned onto the door and sighed.
"Psh... 'useless assh0le'," I muttered to myself, mocking him.
