Kiyotaka Ichinose, still grappling with the revelations of his past, found his thoughts drifting incessantly to the line between fiction and reality. As he lay in bed, the intertwining threads of his former life in Class D and his experiences in the Danganronpa V3 simulation blurred together, creating a perplexing tapestry of his existence.
" Everything still feels real.."
" Yes, that was all fictional but for some reason...the people in there-"
" Not just in the Danganronpa show but in my series...I was- "
" Those memories ..those people..."
" The class special exams...the hang outs..."
" [The white room]"
"..."
" They can't be all a lie- can they?"
"..."
" Whoever I was before -...he died-"
" This feeling...is what I can consider truth for now"
The next day, Kiyotaka decided to clear his mind with a distraction. He messaged Mayumi: "How about that ice cream you mentioned? Let's make it a date."
Her reply was swift and enthusiastic: "Sounds perfect! Meet you at the park at noon."
Kiyotaka arrived at the park to find Mayumi already waiting, a bright smile lighting up her face. "Hey there, stranger," she greeted him playfully.
"Hey," he replied, feeling a rare warmth spreading through him.
They wandered through the park, eventually making their way to the ice cream shop. As they enjoyed their treats, their conversation flowed easily-
"So," she said, licking her cone, "any plans for the future now that you're back in the real world?"
Kiyotaka shrugged. "Still figuring things out. It's all a bit overwhelming."
They continued their date, exploring the city and enjoying each other's company. Just as the day was turning into evening, Kiyotaka's phone buzzed. It was an unknown number. He hesitated, then answered.
"Hello?"
"Kiyotaka Ichinose?" a familiar yet surprising voice asked.
"Yes, who's this?"
"This is Tsumugi Shirogane, the producer of Danganronpa V3. We need to talk."
" You're..-"
" No need to worry- we just wanted to get your overall after experience thoughts after that your role has ended"
"..."
Kiyotaka's heart skipped a beat. "Alright, where can we meet?"
"I'm at the café on 5th Street. Can you come now?"
He agreed, his mind racing with questions. Turning to Mayumi, he explained, "I need to meet someone. It's important. Can you come with me?"
"Of course," she said, sensing his anxiety.
They arrived at the café, and sitting at a corner table was Tsumugi, her expression calm and enigmatic. Kiyotaka approached her, feeling a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
"Kiyotaka, please sit," Tsumugi said, gesturing to the chair opposite her. Mayumi sat beside him, her presence a comforting anchor.
"So, what's this about?" Kiyotaka asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
Tsumugi smiled slightly. "I'm here to tell you the truth about who you really are."
Kiyotaka leaned in, his heart pounding. "Go on."
"You were never originally meant to play the role of Ayanokoji in the original classroom of the elite series. In fact, before the killing game, you were a huge fan of the character. You sent us a video, expressing your admiration and spirit. We saw potential in you and decided to create a character based on that exact persona - Mr. Ayanokoji Wannabe."
Kiyotaka's eyes widened in shock. "What?"
Tsumugi continued, "The real actor for Ayanokoji was busy and unavailable. We needed someone with passion, someone who could embody the essence of the character to start off the crossover, and you fit the bill perfectly. You became Ayanokoji not because you were him, but because you believed in what he stood for- congrats fan boy"
" No way-"
Kiyotaka felt his world tilt. The foundation of his identity crumbled as the reality of his situation sank in. Panic began to rise, but he steadied himself. "So, I was never meant to be the original Ayanokoji?"
"No," Tsumugi said gently. "You were chosen for your spirit and dedication. But now that you know the truth, what will you do?"
" You talk about it wholeheartedly...as if it's something to proud of ..I'm not ...I'm actually...-"
" What is it?"
" What kind of an idiot was I?"
" It's fine..after all, not many people come to us asking to not be a Danganronpa character but another series character"
"..."
" Kiyotaka?"
Kiyotaka took a deep breath, his mind racing. After a moment, he asked, "Can I join your world?"
Tsumugi raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
...
"If my life has been a mix of fiction and reality, then I want to embrace it fully. Let me be part of your world, where I can make a difference a real difference , I believe it will only benefit you to have an anti hero character by your side- no?"
Tsumugi studied him for a moment before nodding. "I'll consider it. But remember, the line between fiction and reality is thin. Are you prepared to go back to that fictional world? And for what that means?"
Kiyotaka nodded resolutely. "Yes. I need to finish what I started."
As they left the café, Kiyotaka turned to Mayumi. "Thank you for being here. I'm sorry if I've dragged you into this mess."
Mayumi smiled, her eyes filled with determination. "I'm with you, Kiyotaka. No matter what happens."
Kiyotaka felt a surge of gratitude and affection for her. But that's probably the feelings of the original him-before turning to the new him- and the new him-is-..
The revelations of the day weighed heavily on Kiyotaka, As they walked back through the city, Kiyotaka felt a strange sense of clarity. The line between fiction and reality might be thin, but with his friends and family, he was ready to navigate it.
Kiyotaka Ichinose, once known as Ayanokoji, was ready to embrace both his past and future, forging a new path in the uncertain world that lay before him.
This should do it..
