A Second Chance

Chapter 2

This chapter is really sad so be prepared.

We had all gotten in the car and we went to my house and my mom said hey to all of them.

I suggested we play Uno for a bit everybody agreed with me and I went upstairs to go get the cards from my room.

I came back and everybody was in a circle, we started to play and everybody was really competitive about it, it was really funny.

For the first round Finn had won, we played a few more rounds. I had one more card and yelled "UNO!".

I looked up at everybody and one pair of eyes had caught my attention, Jackson. why is he always staring.

I checked the time and it was 5, "guys we need to get ready it's almost time for the game" we got up and since we already had our stuff we just refilled our water bottles and left.

I got into the cars and had an uneasy feeling about the game, I started fidgeting like I always do when I'm nervous about something.

Cece had noticed and spoke, "Jules what's wrong, are you okay" she asked.

"Yeah yeah I'm fine just a bit of an uneasy feeling you know?" I laughed it off.

We got to the rink and all got out, we went straight to the locker rooms and got ready and dressed.

The coach had talked to us about what we were going to do, I wasn't really focusing on what she was saying to be honest.

We had finally went out to go play and people from the stands cheered, i felt my adrenaline surge as the puck drops, i was gliding effortlessly, i made the first goal.

I pushed forward scanning the ice for openings. The roar of the crowd fades into the background as I make my way to pass the puck to Cece, she hits hard and the satisfying sound of the puck hitting the net rings my ears.

A wave of anger rushed over me as I see some girls on the other team pushing Cece, I rushed over there and pushed them off of her. The whistle blows sharply and I feel a knot tighten in my stomach. I was doing so well.

The referee signals and i skate over to the penalty box my heart pounding with a mix of anxiety and frustration.

As the whistle blows for the first break I skate towards the bench, The cold air feels good on my flushed face.

I grab my waterbottle taking a few deep breaths in between while drinking it. The water felt refreshing to my dehydrated throat.

The coach gathers us, quickly going over the strategies and adjustments we need to make I listen intently.

Intermission was over finally, we skated back on the ice and we made a few goals before having our second intermission.

The game was finally over and we took the win. We took a few pictures and then I went over to my parents and hugged them, then hugged Noah, even though he was teasing me about how I got a penalty.

"So what are we doing after dinner?" Cece asks the guys.

"Probably just go to anyone's house and just chill" Luca says.

I go over to Nat and Cece follows me, we both hug her and she follows as we go back to the group.

We all leave the rink and go to the cars, we go to dinner and stay there.

We leave and Jackson says "we should go to Julia's house" i laugh and say "and why is that jack?"

"Because I want to Julia" he says. I shrugged it off.

It was only Me, Cece, Noah, Jack and Finn Since Nat and Luca had to go home. We arrived to my house and we all got inside.

I immediately go upstairs to my room and change really quick to a more comfortable outfit.

I grab my blanket and said "So are we watching a movie or what" they all said yess

I snuggled up on the couch and grabbed the remote, Noah says "who said you're the one having the remote?" I said "shut up fatty I'm the one the recommended we watch a movie so I get to have it" he rolls his eyes

i say "Guys should we watch tangled" Cece agreed but the guys were being annoying and saying we should watch a scary movie but I ignored them and went to tangled anyway because who cares about their opinions.

I got a bit sleepy and started to close my eyes, this felt so comfortable.

I was laying in Gracie's lap I looked up at her to see she was already asleep on Finns shoulder.

I closed my eyes and pulled the blanket up to my chin I started to get sleepy.

30 minutes later

I woke up and heard people laughing. "she's gonna be so mad bro" I knew exactly who it was by the laugh and voice, Jackson. I got up and said "what the fuck is wrong with you guys" I looked at him with an annoyed face.

I got up and saw Gracie and Finn had slept on the couch I went up to my room and closed my door shut.

I don't know why he acts so stupid like he doesn't know what happened, and he acts like we're still the same friends we were before all of it.

I still remember the day It was last year on June 5th, the last day of school. I couldn't believe that I was really falling for him but I I walked past the boys locker rooms, only to hear them talking about some girls in our grade, "Oh what about Bakersfield" I heard them say my last name and I froze. "Oh yeah her？don't even try it, she only likes to play with guys she won't even really like you like that, you see how hard she trys to get guys attention, just to dump them afterwards?"
I felt a tear slip I knew that voice to well, it couldn't be him, but I saw him laugh it off and knew it was him.

I rushed to the bathroom and locked myself in one of the stalls i cried my whole heart out. The worst part was he knew I've never done that, I couldn't believe he would lie about me like that.

and I can't believe I'm saying it right now but a little part of me still really loves him and wishes that he hadn't done that, I really really love him but I didn't want a guy that I wanted to talk about me like that.

I started to cry even thinking about it.

That summer really messed me up and I never ever want to go through anything like that ever again. So ever since then I made s promise to myself that I'm never letting a hockey guy near me every again.
