A/N: Hello :D! Me again. Three guesses on what this one shot is hehehe. Thinking of doing like a little au where they meet in college (both of them doing a childcare course) so lemme know your thoughts on that. Again, any and all feedback very appreciated.

Prompt: Mia finally pops the question, to a very oblivious Char.

Mia held the ring in between her fingers, her heart beating out of her chest. She and Charlotte had been dating for nearly a year now and Mia knew that this was the girl she would be with for the rest of her life. All she needed was the ring to prove it.

"Babeeee!" Charlotte's voice echoed down the stairs, startling Mia as she threw the ring into her blazer pocket and ran to the bottom of the stairs.

"Yes, sweetheart? You okay?" Mia shouted up the stairs, leaning on the banister.

"Can you come do up the zip of my dress? I need to leave for work soon and I cannot for the life of me get this zipper." Charlotte chuckled.

Mia's heart was still thumping in her chest as she walked up the stairs, terrified that the ring would fall out of her pocket. She walked into the bedroom to see Charlotte desperately trying to reach for her zipper, bending her arms in all sorts of angles.

"Sweetheart, don't panic. I've got it," Mia chuckled, before gently grabbing Charlotte's arms and moving them away from the zipper. "And I'll run you into work, I'll get you there on time." Mia gently pushed Charlotte's hair onto one shoulder and fastened the zip.

Charlotte spun around and planted a kiss on Mia's lips. "Only cos you speed!" Charlotte chuckled as she pulled her boots on.

"Hey, Char?" Mia said, reaching her hand into her blazer pocket. "I've fancied a lot of women in my life but..."

"What do you mean you've fancied a lot of women? I know this, don't remind me! Still have no idea why you chose me." Charlotte interrupted, blushing and looking down at the ground.

Mia quickly removed her hand from her pocket, her eyes full of panic. "No, no, that's not what I meant! I chose you because I'm in love with you. I'm just saying out of all the women in the world..."

"You still think about other women? Why?" Charlotte interrupted again, shaking.

Mia grabbed a hold of both of the younger woman's hands. "Sweetheart, shush. That's not what I mean, of course I don't think about other women. Look, I'll give up on this for now..."

"YOU'RE GIVING UP ON US?" Charlotte shouted, still violently shaking and allowing a tear to fall down her cheek.

"No! No, not at all. Char, I fucking love you, okay? Listen to me - I'll run you into work and I'll prepare something nice for when you get home to make it up to you. I'm never, ever giving up on you!" Mia said, reassuringly. She squeezed Charlotte's hands before letting go to brush the tear off of her cheek and give her a gentle kiss.

"I'm sorry, Mia. I - I guess I just panicked." Charlotte said meekly, the shaking subsiding.

"I know, darling. I know. I get it." Mia gave her a reassuring smile. "Come on, let's get you to work."

The car ride to the nursery was quiet. Mia drove the whole way with her hand on Charlotte's knee in silent reassurance. She did run a couple of red lights and break a few speed limits to get Charlotte to work on time, much to the brunette's amusement. As they pulled into the nursery car park, they spotted Marjorie arguing with a parent outside the door.

Charlotte chuckled as Mia effortlessly pulled into a parking space right by the door and slowly rolled her window down to hear the gossip.

"For the last time, Sarah, I cannot allow you to tailgate me into the nursery. It defeats the point of a code!" Marjorie was saying, raising her voice.
