It was a miserable day in the town of Rose Meadow, the rain poured down relentlessly, crashing on windows, though it was a death wish to go outside, it made a cosy and humble atmosphere inside, perfect for the weekend, as everyone could stay home and relax with family.

Many people were home, enjoying their relaxing afternoon. On the other hand, a young teenage girl was sulking in bed, she had recently broken her wrist, due to her little sister's careless actions. She couldn't hold too much of a grudge though, since her sister was only 7, and had no bad intentions.

She sighed, breaking her wrist would limit her from playing a lot of instruments, which were her key to escape reality, luckily it wasn't a bad break, but it still has her in a lot of pain, and in a cast, which sucked.

Scrolling on her phone was the only thing keeping her satisfied currently, she had messaged her close friends, the music club, about what happened, typically Milly wasn't bothered, she'd broken her wrist atleast a good 7 times before, Sean and Luke were genuinely worried, and her brother Zander was still recovering for the time he had to take out of his day to go to the hospital with Hailey, and their mum. However, her closest friend, Jake, hadn't messaged back, she wasn't too worried, he was late to everything: rehearsals, conversations, days out etc. But, she couldn't wait for his reaction, with the bantering the pair of them get on to.

She laid on her bed, staring into the space of her phone, until her peace was interrupted by the sound of a doorbell. She assumed this was just a poor postman who was being sacrificed in the weather to deliver something, but this changed when she heard her dad call her.

She opened her door slightly and heard her dad call for her again.

"Hailey!" He yelled out in a calm tone, knowing his daughter was mentally and physically exhausted.

"Yes Dad?" The teal haired teen responded back, slowly opening her door further.

"You've got a visitor!" He chimed back.

Hailey smiled a bit, she was still tired, and probably could do without company, but she was happy to talk to someone on the other hand, and have someone to keep her company. Which is why she exclaimed, "Just send them to my room."

She sat back down on her bed, and brushed her hair, just to freshen it up, as she had just sat in bed all day, she suddenly heard her bedroom door get frantically opened, she quickly jolted her head towards the noise, she saw her favourite peach haired, chocolate eyed friend Jake, stood at the entrance way, soaked from the rain, with a whole bag of stuff.

Hailey's face brightened up as she stood up and greeted, "Oh hey Ja-"

"OH MY GOSH, ARE YOU OK? I CAME AS SOON AS I SAW YOUR MESSAGE-."

Hailey giggled and shook her head, "I'm fine. Just a broken wrist."

"Just a broken wrist?" Jake questioned, he dropped his bag next to the door and walked towards Hailey, "I think that's a big deal."

"You really didn't have to come over Jake, especially in this weather, I'm okay." The midnight eyed girl reassured him, putting her healthy hand on his shoulder.

Jake crossed his arms and looked to the side and exhaled, "I just felt bad." He waited a few seconds, before immediately perking up again, "Oh, I also bought you supplies!"

Hailey's jaw dropped, "You didn't..."

"Oh yes I did!" He travelled to his bag, he put his hand in and started to get stuff out.

"Okay, so I brought you some treats, like chocolate. Uh... I got you some paracetamol and ibuprofen just incase it hurts-"

"Just in case it hurts?" Hailey interrupted, face planting herself.

"Yeah?" Jake said, confused.

"Jake. I think it already hurts..." Hailey exclaimed, in a sarcastic, but serious tone, she couldn't believe how stupid Jake could be sometimes.

"Oh!" Jake thought, "Here you go then!" He said, throwing the box of paracetamol at Hailey, hitting her in the face.

"Ow?" Hailey inhaled.

Jake tried not to laugh at his mistake, and sighed, "I'm sorry..."

Hailey smirked, and thought, maybe she could make Jake do whatever she wanted, by acting like her wrist really hurt. She dramatically sat on her bed and sighed, "My wrist just hurts so much!..."

"Poor you... Do you want anything?" Jake asked, sitting next to her.

"Hm... Can you go get me a smoothie from the fridge?" Hailey explained, still acting dramatic.

"Okay.." Jake responded, standing up, before walking out the door, he paused, "Wait... Are you just acting dramatic and 'woe is me', so I go get or do stuff for you."

Hailey giggled, "Maybe..."

Jake rolled his eyes and crossed his arms and chimed, "You're lucky we're friends, Princess."

Hailey laughed, as her cheeks went a rose red. She waited for Jake to return, and after a few minutes, he did.

"Here you go, your highness." He teased, bowing down and giving her the smoothie.

"Thank you!" Hailey cheered, taking a sip.

There was silence for a few seconds, as Hailey was drinking, Jake sat beside her and waited for her to finish, when she did, he asked a question.

"So Hailey..." Jake whistled, "How did you even break your wrist? You're like the most careful person I know."

Hailey went red from embarrassment, "It's really bad... Well, not the break, but the story."

"Pleaseeeee." Jake begged, "You know the silly things I do, I won't judge."

"Fine.." Hailey sighed, "Bethany left one of her barbies on the floor, and I tripped over, and hit my wrist on the living room's coffee table."

"You... tripped?"

"I just said that, didn't I?"

"YOU TRIPPED?" Jake said, starting to laugh.

"I thought you said you wouldn't laugh." Hailey said, punching him on the arm softly.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Jake tried to recollect himself, but started laughing again, "I would've paid to see that."

Hailey rolled her eyes, "I barely saw it myself, it was traumatic."

"Did it go all crooked?" Jake eagerly asked.

Hailey smirked, "You're so weird."

Jake scoffed and smiled sarcastically, "I'm only asking the interesting questions."

"What's your next interesting question?" Hailey mocked, holding her hurt arm in front of her and making a silly face, "Did someone try to kiss it better?"

Jake raised an eyebrow, "Did they?"

Hailey sighed, shaking her head. Jake's face grew a grin, as a new idea popped into his head, he leaned forward and kissed Hailey's hand. Hailey's face grew red as she realised what happened, and she froze in place. Jake continued to smile, and he questioned, "Does it feel better now?"

The teal haired girl stayed silent for a few seconds, until she snapped back to reality and redeemed her humorous, happy tone, "You wish."

Jake laughed, and for the rest of the day, the pair spent their day watching movies and shows, since they couldn't do much, due to the state of Hailey's arm and the weather conditions, they also sang karaoke, and debated over their favourite artists. A day that was tragic and awful for Hailey got redeemed, because of the presence of one of her closest friends, she really treasured his company, and though she once found him to be just another mean bully, he showed himself to be a caring guy, with a big heart, one of the many reasons why Hailey fell in love.
