Nobody's POV:
After around four hours, Jack, holding his axe tightly, gets nervous and starts to wonder why nothing has happened to him yet. I got bit around four to five hours ago, why hasn't the bite affected me yet?
"Yo sis," Jack says to Alexis, "Can we take a break and stop by a store or something to get some supplies?"
Alexis thinks for a minute, "Uhh...you do realize we are being chased by hundreds of zombies right?"
"Just, please?"
Alexis thinks to herself, he's been acting strange ever since we killed that horde of zombies...I mean, we could stop at a gas station or shop. We have enough people to kill the zombies chasing us.
"Fine," she says after a few seconds.
Around 8 minutes go by, the group finds a gas station. Everyone gets out of the car. Alexis can see a city up ahead as she gets out.
"Hmm..."
"What's wrong?" Says Jack.
"I see a city up ahead. It looks abandoned and destroyed. Should we go and check it out? There might still be some people alive there."
"Uhhhh..." Jack thinks for a minute, "Well, we don't have enough supplies right now and we need more people if it's a big city."
"Why's that— ohhhh..." Alexis gets embarrassed for a moment, "Big cities mean more zombies, which means we need more people, ammunition, guns." Alexis looks at her brother for a minute and notices a scratch on his arm.
"Oh my—" She says a little too loud.
"Shhhhh," Jack whispers, "Don't be too loud! I don't want anyone else to know."
"Sorry, but are you ok?! When did you get this...?" She grabs his arm gently as she examines it. Wait, is this a zombie scratch?! Her eyes widen as she thinks to herself.
"Around 4 to 5 hours ag–", she cuts him off, "5 HOURS?!" Alexis gets frustrated and worried.
"Look, I'll be fine for the time being. The effects haven't started yet, so I'm fine...for now at least."
"Wait... if it's been 5 hours, why aren't you a zombie?" Alexis lets go of his arm. "The effects start after an hour or so. You should be a little more pale and feeling sick-ish by now- or a freaking zombie!"
"I don't know...but let's be glad it hasn't," Jack says.
They both walk back to the gas station and ask everyone if they've found any ammo or new guns.
"I found a bag of ammo for rifles," says one member.
"Uhh, I found a dead body," says Zach.
"Eww," members say in disgust.
Alexis facepalms and sighs, "Fine let's do this instead...Raise your hand if you found any guns."
Three members raise their hands.
"Good, how many?"
"Two," says Julia.
"Three," says one member.
"Eight," says another member.
Why are there so many guns at a gas station? Alexis thinks to herself.
"Where's my brother? Zach, go find my brother," Alexis asks Zach while looking at the other members.
Zach walks back into the gas station and finds Jack sitting on the ground holding his axe, sharpening it.
"Hey, your sister needs you. Come out, now," Zach says.
"You will NOT give me orders, understand?" Jack says coldly, staring at him.
They both don't like eachother but they're forced to work together in order to survive. They've known each other ever since grade school. Zach has been bullying him during that time. He knows that Jack can easily beat him if they ever get into a fight, but he doesn't care. Jack doesn't get along with anyone really, he's cold to everyone except Alexis. And he knows that Zach likes his sister.
"Hey Alex, I'm here. What's up?" Jack says smiling but a little coldly because of the conversation he just had with Zach.
She gets on her tippy toes and whispers in his ear, "I need you to stay in the car while we go and check out the few houses around us."
"What!? Hell no, I'm coming with."
"It's not safe for you to come with us since...you have that bite. You're infected and if you come with us you can turn at any moment..." she says, sounding a bit worried.
Fine I guess I'll just go look at some safer and smaller houses for the time being. Jack sighs.
"Fine...BUT if anything goes wrong, I'm going to you as fast as I can," he crosses his arms.
"That's fine, you'll be our last resort. Plus you need to rest after fighting all those zombies from before."
Alexis looks around and says, "Ok everyone, split up into three groups of five. Zach you're with me."
Jack looks at Zach with a cold look, Zach winks at Jack smiling as he walks over to Alexis.
I swear, if he even looks at her...I'm going to lose it. Jack thinks to himself angrily.
Zach moves behind Alexis and hugs her.
"Thanks for the hug I guess," She says, pushing him a bit away.
"Yep...sure," Zach says, a bit disappointed at her response.
Jack, a bit angry, grabs his axe and sharpens it more.
