WILLOW SAT WITH an uneasy pit in her stomach. Ten minutes before her match and her ankle had yet to cooperate. Usually, by now, the pain would ease.

On top of the fact that she was in immense pain, when she tried to tell Thomas all he did was simply tell her to stretch, or rest, and it would get better. He didn't seem to have a care in the world, as he was too caught up in a match of his own.

And she didn't blame him for that, she understood how dedicated one could be to a sport. Losing sucks.

She hadn't had a panic attack for a few weeks, and she wanted it to remain that way. Nobody has ever been able to help her through one the way Art did.

But she refused to ask for his help, or ask for his anything.

She stood, pacing with her hands on her hips. She tried to keep all her weight on both feet, but it was no use, stepping fully on her left foot would shoot a stabbing pain up through her whole foot and leg.

She didn't know how she was going to compete. But it was too late now to call it quits.

A knock at the door made her let out a loud huff, "Coming." She heard whoever it was outside shuffle side to side. She furrowed her brows and urgently opened the door.

It only revealed Patrick on the other side. He gave a quick wave by just lifting his hand and forming his lips into a firm, straight line.

"What're you doing here?"

"Supporting my best friend. I know I've been a complete dick but I'm making it up to you." He takes his hands from behind his back and hands her a water bottle.

She squints her eyes and shakes her head, "My dad told you to give this to me." She takes it from his grasp.

"Yeah? And I didn't complain." He had a certain attitude and sass radiating from his voice, "I was trying to be nice, but I guess not."

She lightly shoves his head as she exits the room, "Shut up, you idiot." She bursts into laughter and the two make quick strides down the hallway together. Patrick even gives her a light shove back.
