Things We Never Did
ABOUT YOU - THE 1975
"Do you think I have forgotten
About you? You and I were alive with nothing to do, I could lay and just look in your eyes. Wait and pretend hold on and hope that we'll find our way back in the end.":・✧ *:・゚✧ *:・゚✧
"WELL AREN'T YOU GUYS THE LAMEST MEN EVER." Willow taunts, her arm looped through Tashi's. Their feet soon hit the sandy shore and the two boys turn at the sudden sound of a familiar feminine voice. They lounged on beach chairs with cigarettes between their fingers.
"You're the lame one." Patrick squints his eyes at her.
"Oh please, you guys left an amazing party to smoke." She leaves Tashi's side and sits on the end of Art's chair. She had taken the clip out of her hair hours before. So now, her hair was fully blowing in the gentle breeze.
Art sits up to be closer to her. He cherished how easily comfortable she could be in front of anyone, stranger or not.
She leans back, propping herself up with her hands behind her.
He brushes his fingers over her shoulder blade, moving her brown hair out of the way. He leans over and whispers, "You never came back."
She tilts her head back to look at him, "I got distracted." Her eyes move in a triangle method as she looks at his left eye, then his right, and finally his lips.
His tongue brushed across his lips and a small grin appeared on his face. He couldn't help but smile as he admired her.
"Don't get distracted again." His voice was low and he remained eye contact. His hand snaked from her shoulder down to her waist. He inhales deeply, "I don't think you understand what you do to me."
She was about to indulge him with thousands of questions but Patrick began to speak.
She was left mouth agape but decided to attempt to get the whole moment out of her mind. It meant nothing. She was overthinking it. At least that's what she thought.
Patrick was asking Tashi about college and occasionally Art would chip into the conversation but Willow couldn't let any words leave her mouth. She was dumbfounded. She was confused.
As much as she tried to push away the thought of her and Art being something more than just two best friends, it still glimmered shiny and bright in the back of her mind. Like it was some sort of dream she had always been longing for.
