It was a dark, silent night. The full moon lit the whole Empire with its beautiful gleaming luminescence.
The smell of incense sticks was adding happiness to the atmosphere. The temple priests were conducting special poojas for that night.
All the people devotedly prayed their deity, Mahaling , the aniconic form of Lord Shiva.
The Shivling or the Mahaling was made of pure emerald and each side had a face each representing the four directions along with the four Vedas.
The people were eagerly participating in the special rituals conducted by their Emperor, Suryamurthy, who was expecting his first child that night. The Emperor's brother, Sathyamurthy, took great care of the safety of the citizens by physically being present there along with other soldiers.
Thousands of people had gathered around the large temple to pray for their Empress's well being.
The soldiers were standing in perfect straight lines allowing people to move between them. There was a twenty-four feet deity standing in the middle and surrounded by hundreds of priests who kept chanting 'Mantras'. The emerald four faced Shivling was to the right of the huge deity.A huge flag was placed in front of the deity. The flag had the symbols of a flying lion, which represented the bravery of the Kings of the Dynasty. The lion was well stitched with golden threads in the red background cloth. The flag beautifully fluttered at the gentle winds reminding everyone that the rule of The Sinha Dynasty would long live in their Empire.
The people had always lived in harmony under their Emperor's rule. Suryamurthy was a just and honest ruler and he would punish people according to their crimes. Any crime against women was unforgivable. Rapists were not killed. Instead, they were tortured to death and they were made to beg for their own deaths.
Petty thieves were given jobs in the palace or they were made to join the army and the thieves readily agreed if they got good salary.
Dacoits were captured and used for masonry and some were given jobs as spies.
Uneducated poor young men and women were given jobs as guards for the Emperor and the Empress.
Women education was encouraged but female children were not supposed to live in Gurukul like the boys did.
They were sent back to home in the evenings and they had only female teachers. With his succession , crime rates reduced rapidly. The meaning of 'Poverty' was long forgotten. He was only seventeen when he became the king.
Within fifteen years, he had built the large temple and had expanded his Empire with the help of his intelligent Guru, Aditya. Many Kings had high respect towards Suryamurthy. Suryamurthy's sibling, Sathyamurthy took in charge of the army and he excelled in that too.
