Pinelight's POV
Pinelight awoke, his eyes adjusting to the sunlight. He licked Ivyfrost, slowly awakening her, and she groaned.
"Are you feeling any better?" Pinelight asked hopefully.
Before Ivyfrost could respond, she suddenly lurched forward, retching onto the ground beside them. Pinelight's heart clenched with concern as he rushed to her side, placing a comforting paw on her back.
"Come on, let's get you to the medicine cat den." he meowed softly, guiding her gently. This certainly isn't eating prey too quickly, he thought.
"Here, Ivyfrost," Pinelight murmured gently, helping her settle onto a soft bed of moss near the back of the den. He crouched beside her, his heart pounding with worry. "Try to take deep breaths."
Ivyfrost nodded weakly, her face etched with discomfort. She leaned against the moss, her breath coming in short gasps.
"Let me get you some water," Pinelight offered softly, rising quickly and fetching a small leaf filled with water from a nearby puddle. He returned to Ivyfrost's side and held the leaf to her mouth, supporting her as she took small sips.
After a moment, twitching subsided, but she still looked pale and shaky. Pinelight stroked her fur gently, trying to offer whatever comfort he could.
"It's okay, Ivyfrost," Pinelight reassured her quietly, his voice filled with concern. "Just take it easy."
Pinelight hated seeing his best friend in pain. His heart lurched with concern, and he swallowed forcefully, trying to keep his emotions in check. Ivyfrost needed him now more than ever, and he couldn't afford to let his feelings overwhelm him.
"Ivyfrost," Pinelight murmured gently, pushing aside his own worry as he focused on what he could do to help. "I'm going to prepare some herbs for you. It'll help settle your stomach."
Ivyfrost nodded gratefully, her eyes conveying both discomfort and gratitude. Pinelight gathered juniper berries and other herbs, carefully crushing and mixing them in a small leaf before adding a few drops of water to create a soothing paste.
Returning to Ivyfrost's side, Pinelight gently lifted her head and offered her the herb mixture. "Here, Ivyfrost," he said softly. "This should help."
Ivyfrost obediently lapped at the mixture, the herbal scent mingling with the mossy fragrance of the den. Pinelight watched her closely, his concern easing slightly as she seemed to relax under the effects of the herbs.
"You're doing great," Pinelight encouraged, stroking her fur gently. "Just take it easy."
Ivyfrost nodded weakly, her breaths becoming more steady as the herbs took effect. Pinelight remained by her side, silently grateful that she was starting to feel better.
As the den filled with the quiet sounds of the night, Pinelight continued to watch over Ivyfrost, his earlier worry giving way to a sense of quiet determination. He knew he couldn't predict what challenges lay ahead for them in their clan, but in that moment, caring for Ivyfrost felt like the most important thing in the world.
"I care about you so much, Ivyfrost" Pinelight whispered softly, more to himself than to her, as he settled down beside her. He glanced at her sleeping form, his affection for her evident in the softness of his gaze.

"Leafshine! Leafshine! She's getting worse," Pinelight couldn't stop his voice from breaking. Ivyfrost was unconscious, but her temperature had soared, and she was sweating. She twitched, and she was pale, and she looked so sick.
"Slow down, Pinelight. Who are you talking about?" Leafshine asked, urgency clouding her gaze.
"Ivyfrost," Pinelight gasped.
Leafshine followed him back to the medicine cat den- she had been searching for watermint on the Deepclan border when Pinelight had interrupted her searching.
"Go wet this moss, and hurry, Pinelight." Leafshine told him. Pinelight could see the concern in her eyes, and he immediately knew that this wasn't good. He sprinted out of the medicine cat den, carrying the moss in his mouth. He had to get to the stream in time. It was near the middle of Darkclan territory, so it would take him some time to get there, but he was determined.
"I'm back, Leafshine!" Pinelight had never run that fast in his life. He was gasping desperately for air, but if it was to save Ivyfrost, he'd do it again and again and again.
Pinelight's heart dropped as Leafshine turned and revealed a heart-broken expression. He notices Silentsong and Reddawn, Ivyfrost's mother and sister.
"She's in Starclan's paws now." Leafshine murmured.
