25: a dream of you and me

AIAH

Isang linggo, a week after that night we shared, iniwan ako ni Mikha, nagising ako nang umaga na iyon na wala na siya sa tabi ko.

Walang dahilan, walang paalam. Naiwan akong nagtatanong. Nawalan ako ng buhay sa lahat. I'd asked everyone who has the potential to know where she is pero bigo ako.

Pinuntahan ko lahat ng mga lugar na maaari niyang puntahanan pero wala siya. I was left dumbfounded when I didn't find her contact on my phone. Everyone is giving me a weird look, eyes mirrored with pity.

"Colet, si Mikha" Walang araw na hindi siya ang bukambibig ko sa tuwing may pagkakataon ako na sabihin at itanong siya sa ibang tao.

Pero sa kabila ng lahat, isa lang ang narinig kong sagot.

"Aiah, forget about her, masaya na si Mikha"

That's when I lost it all, I need answers sa lahat kaya tinapangan ko.

"Ano bang sinasabi mo Cole?" My voice trembled, gulong gulo.

Colet's stares were soft and breaking, na para bang hindi niya kaya na nakikita akong ganito.

"Sabihin mo sa akin, please" I said, nagmamakaawa

"Ikakasal na si Mikha..." Para akong nabingi sa narinig ko, naguguluhan at natatawa sa rebelasyon niya.

"Oo, we're engaged nga diba" Agad na putol ko sa kanya.

"No Aiah, hindi sayo " Her voice was laced with vulnerability "Mikha is getting married next week."

"Ano?"

Colet shook her head, she held my hand. "Both of you suffered from an accident the day when we were going back to Manila after our staycation in Tagaytay"

"Aiah....dalawang taon na ang nakakalipas"

Para akong pinagbagsakan ng langit at lupa ng marinig iyon.

"W-what?" Tanging naiusal ko, hindi makapaniwala. "Is this prank Cole? Ginagago mo ba ako?" Hindi ko napigilang taasan siya ng boses.

"Aiah look around you" Colet spoke, puzzled I close my eyes and look around me after and everything makes sense.

When my eyes fluttered open. Harsh fluorescent lights greeted my sight and the beeping of medical machines filled my ears. The sterile smell of the hospital replaced the fresh scent of the forest. My body felt heavy, each limb weighed down by the pull of consciousness.

I am not in my room, hindi ito ang kwarto ko. Puti, many glass windows at may kung ano anong aparato.

This is a hospital room. Anong ginagawa ko rito?

"You suffered a severe head injury Ai. Mikha was comatose too pero she recovered after 6 months but she doesn't remember us. She suffered retrograde amnesia as the doctor enlightened. Mikha lost her pre-existing memories at tayo iyon Aiah. The only memory that was left on her was her memories before she met us" Colet spoke

"We had lost faith na maibabalik siya sa dati dahil lumayo si Mikha sa atin, iniwan tayo ni Mikha, You were left in this bed for almost 2 years..." She added

Blood, a blaring light, a beeping sound and a bustling truck. Her bloody face and unconscious state before the darkness envelope my eyes.
