When Good Girls Meet Bad Endings

Olivia:

-"Science has proven in every single way that ghosts don't exist." Rui pinched bridge of his nose.

   Aaron turned his head to look at him.

-"What is it saying again?" He said and pointed at Rui.

   Kayan started laughing,but an uneasy feeling washed over me. I could feel something,like someone was there and watching us. Getting ready for the perfect moment to come into our lives and turn everything upside down.

-"Have you been listening Liv?" Layla nudged me and snapped me back to reality.

-"Oh no sorry I zoned out. What was it?" I brushed every uneasy feeling away.

-"We were talking about the DT killer case." Kayan said casually.

-"Max Hastings got what he deserved." Aaron leaned back against a tree and shoved his hands into his red pockets.

  Why did I notice what he was doing?

-"They say Max Hastings killed him, but let me remind you guys that Jason Bell was a serial killer. Wouldn't he have defended himself in some way?" I suddenly said and I noticed everyone was looking at me.

-"I mean.." I kept on, "If you think of it, the clues were way to easy like someone had dropped them there. And wouldn't Max try and cover up the scene?"

-"Are you defending him?" Kayan looked at me.

-"Are you crazy? Of course not. I'm just saying that the DT killer case is interesting. It was just to easy. How?"

   Stella cleared her throat and brought her knees to her chest.

-"I heard Max Hastings had drugs before he committed the murder. So he didn't remember anything." She said.

-"Exactly!" I threw a hand in the air. "But still he would have covered it up guys. It's common logic."

    Aaron leaned forward.

-"What is it you are saying?" He whispered and suddenly everyone was intrigued.

-"I'm saying that.." I took a deep breath. "This case might not be closed. Someone else killed Jason Bell and framed Max Hastings."

 
  Aaron:

   I looked at Olivia as she spoke,hanging on to every word that escaped her lips. I leaned backwards again,resting my head on the tree.

-"You have a point. Either way,the case is closed, Max is definitely not innocent since he's a whole ass rapist,and DT killer is dead. So nothing to worry about." I shrugged it off.

-"Are you telling me you are not even a little bit curious to figure out who did it if it wasn't Max?" Olivia asked,her gaze locking with mine.

-"Not really,no." I replied.

   Kayan crossed his legs.

-"So he's dead right? Couldn't have faked his death." He said.

  Layla gave him a death glare.

-"He rose from the dead,careful." She made a grimace. "He's coming after you."

-"Im a boy I don't need to worry about that,thank you very much." Kayan smirked as he looked around,taking in every detail of the forest.

   I shook him.

-"Don't tell me you actually believed that?" I asked him playfully.

-"Kayan you are a big baby." Olivia teased as she came over and sat next to me and Kayan.

  My whole body tensed for absolutely god knows what reason. I forced myself to relax as I looked at the two siblings.One of them maybe. The sister maybe. Suddenly there was a noise from nearby and our attentions were immediately drawn.

-"No one look or act weird." Kayan said and held out his arms. "If someone's there, they'll know we heard them and that'll only satisfy them."

   My dad has once told me,that when him,Aunt Pip, and some friends went camping there was actually a murderer watching them. And now we heard a noise right after we were talking about a dead man.

-"Hold on I got this." I cleared my throat.

-"If you do anything stupid you will end up dead and I will turn into DT." Jules warned as she stared at me.

-"Relax."
  
  Dad had run after the killer when they were in this situation. I wasn't that stupid.

-"HEY MR.DUCT TAPE KILLER! MR. JASON BELL OR WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS! WE ARE SORRY FOR TALKING ABOUT YOU! YOU CAN LEAVE NOW!" I yelled out into the open,my voice echoing through the darkness.

   Olivia clamped her hands up to her mouth. Kayan stared at me wide eyed.

-"What?" I said,like I had just done the most normal thing in the world.

-"What the f—"

   The same noise was heard and a bird flew out of a bush. The girls screamed.

   After the shock wore off me and Kayan started laughing.

-"Ridiculous! It was just a stupid bird—!" I shook my head while trying to compose myself.

-"Let me remind you that two seconds ago you yelled into the open air,like the ghost of Jason Bell was going to answer you.

   I glanced at Olivia who looked a bit skeptical.

-"What's wrong Agent Livie?" I asked.

  I could've sworn she blushed.

-"Not to scare you guys but the DT killer and birds are kinda connected."

-"Oh shut up." Kayan waved his hand. "That's nonsense. It was just a bird for god's sake."

   Stella clapped her hands.

-"How about we all go into the tent and get some sleep? We have to drive in the morning."

   We all agreed and went inside the tent. I was between Kayan and Olivia. Rui,Layla,Stella and Jules were next to each other.

  I tossed and turned but I couldn't sleep for some reason. Kayan was already fast asleep and I felt someone touch my shoulder.

-"You can't sleep too?" Olivia asked as I turned to face her.

-"Nah." I said, "Don't know why. You?"

-"Same." She smiled and her cheeks dimpled.

  I wasn't a big fan of dimpled,even though I was cursed with having them from my mum, but Liv's dimples were so painfully adorable for some reason.

-"You should get some sleep Agent Livie." I said while keeping my voice low. "We need that brain of yours functioning."

   She laughed as her eyes landed on mine again. I looked at her for a while before raising my hand next to my pillow and holding out for her. There wasn't much distance between us anyway, so she wouldn't have to stretch her arm out.

   She intertwined her fingers with mine and her eyes disappeared beneath her eyelashes. I smiled slightly before letting myself wander off to sleep as well.
