Steve's POV

Caytlinn, Dustin, and I exchanged worried glances before we all said the same thing. One stupid thing that ruined our lives. I mean one good thing did come out of it and that was my relationship with Cay but everything else was ruined. "The gate..."

"It can't be. El closed it. And this one is not a Hawkins lab. So....?" Caytlinn muttered, her eyes darting looking at the gate.

"Holy shit..." Matthew muttered. His eyes were wide and his curly blond hair bobbing against his forehead. His hands were pressed against the glass. Dustin looked at Caytlinn with disapproval.

"You told him? That is a clear violation of the party rules!"

"I didn't tell him shit Dustin! I didn't break the rules!" Caytlinn snapped back at him. She stepped towards him. Dustin didn't flinch as she stepped closer. I stood behind Caytlinn read to step in between the two if things got ugly.

"Really, cause it sure seems like it,"

"Why? Why does it seem like it?" Caytlinn pressed. We were dealing with a major issue here with the gate and the Russians and they really though it was best to have this argument now, even though they had already yelled it out in the mall.

Dustin failed to answer.

"I didn't break the rules. I would never break the rules unless it was for something dramatic. Dustin you know me! You freakin' know me!"

"I knew you. Now you're Steve's wingman!"

I saw Caytlinn clench her fists. "Okay....We have to go," I said placing my hands on my sister's shoulders. Nobody moved an inch. "Now!"

Erica was the first one to walk, followed by a very pissed Dustin and Robin. Matthew glanced at me and Caytlinn before following Robin. Caytlinn wriggled out of my grip and stomped down the stairs.

"I don't understand. You've seen this before?" Robin asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Not exactly," I clarified, hoping I wouldn't have to go into detail.

"Then what, exactly?" Robin pressed.

"All you need to know is it's bad," Dustin added.

"It's really bad," Caytlinn clarified. "Like, end-of-the-human-race-as-we-know-it kind of bad,"

"And you know about this how?" Robin questioned. By the looks of it, neither Caytlinn nor Dustin were going to answer, leaving Robin in the dark. However nobody got to say anything because Erica's annoying voice cut the silence in half.

"Umm? Steve? Where's your Russian friend?"

I looked at the ground, right before an alarm began sounding. Sprinting to the door, and opening got me a pretty good view of the guy I just beat up. He was getting help. A bunch of help by the look of it. And then a bunch of Russians looked up at me. "Halt! Halt!"

I slammed the door shut, and looked at the group. "Shit...go, go, go, go, go!" I yelled, running to the stairs. We all huddled together, and ran back to where we were originally standing. "Move! Let's move!"

Dustin opened the door, and I slammed into him, hard. Several office chairs squeaked and more Russians were looking at us. They were just sitting there while we stood there.

"GO. Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!"

I followed the group down a flight of stairs, out of the office, and and onto a metal platform. A guy in a red hazmat suit was in the way, and Dustin shrieked and pushed him out of the way, clearing a path.
