LIFT || PART 2
Title: Getting stuck in the middle of the empty road & begging for a lift from a rude stranger
—————☆—————
Without missing a beat, he glanced at me, his expression unreadable. "Be my girlfriend,” he said.
"What?!" I shouted in disbelief, my voice rising sharply. He scrunched his face at my outburst.
"Stop shouting, damn it! I just want you to pretend. There's no way I'd make someone like you my girlfriend," he retorted sharply.
I was taken aback, "What do you mean by someone like me?" I asked.
He sighed heavily, his gaze turning cold. "You're clearly not my type," he said bluntly, his eyes returning to the road ahead as if the conversation was over. Taken aback by his bluntness, I couldn't help but feel disbelief.
"If I'm not your type, then why are you asking me to pretend to be your girlfriend?" I questioned.
"Because," he began, his tone flat and matter-of-fact, "It'll get my mom off my back. She'll stop trying to set me up with other girls if she thinks I'm already taken.” He finished.
"But why me?" I pressed on, needing to understand his motive. He glanced at me briefly, his expression unreadable.
"You were there," he said with a shrug, as if that explained everything.
"And you owe me for this ride." He casually said.
“So, I'm just convenient?" I asked, my voice laced with bitterness. He didn't answer immediately, his silence speaking volumes.
Eventually, he sighed, his voice tinged with annoyance. "Look, it's just for show. I don't have time for complications.”
I scoffed at his demand, which should have been a request. "You're unbelievable," I muttered, shaking my head.
"I'm not getting involved in your things. Find someone else to play pretend with." His expression darkened, and his grip on the steering wheel tightened.
"What did you just say?" he snapped, his voice rising with anger. "You owe me for this ride, remember? You said you'd do anything."
"I don't care," I shot back, my own frustration bubbling up.
"I'm not about to pretend to be your girlfriend just to get you out of trouble with your mom. This is your mess, not mine."
His face contorted with rage, and he started shouting. "You think you have a choice here? You think you can just walk away after everything? You owe me, and you're going to pay up. I'm not asking; I'm telling you. You're going to help me with this, whether you like it or not.”
