She had studied well and hard throughout her years, though she found most material came easy to her if she practiced only a bit.

At first glance, most assumed her to be dim, shallow, ditzy. She chalked it up to her lightened blonde hair and love for all things pink and floral and soft. But after speaking with her for only a minute, everyone found that those soft brown eyes held a vast library of knowledge and intelligence far beyond her years. She was also incredibly beautiful, though she was clueless to all the male and female attention she received just from simply walking down the hall. She was far too busy focusing on her studies to have, or even want, a boyfriend.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had never seen such a bright mind. She had passed her her O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s every year  they were offered with perfect scores, was a highly-praised prefect since her fifth year and head girl her final one, received perfect marks in all her classes, had never gotten in trouble, and was liked – or at least tolerated – by all the teachers. She was often found either spending time with her friends or with her nose in a book. Perhaps all the reading had helped her become so gifted, her constantly reading about magical creatures or wizard history or even a simple muggle book.

It was miraculous how gifted she was with magic, considering that both her parents and her younger brother were muggles – non-magic folk. When she had received the letter and news that she was a witch, even she had trouble believing it. She had written back to Hogwarts, saying it must be a mistake, but they assured her it was not, that she was a witch. That was the day the Granger family's lives changed forever.

A year later, Atlas Granger had been disappointed when he did not receive a letter on his eleventh birthday, announcing he had been accepted at Hogwarts. The family wondered if Ella had just been an anomaly. No one in their family tree had ever been a witch or wizard as far as they could trace. Four years after that, Hermione Granger, the youngest sibling of the batch, received a letter of her own. Ella was thrilled to have another witch in the family, and she promised Hermione she would take her under her wing and show her the ropes. By that time, Atlas had become obsessed with math and science – two subjects he learned didn't exist in the wizarding school curriculum – so he only felt excitement for his baby sister.
