𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐖𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐘 – that was until Hermione, Harry, and Ron practically tackled her when they ran into the DADA classroom. Ella was just getting back from her lunch break only to be ambushed be three livid teenagers. Luckily, Remus hadn't returned yet, so the four could speak quietly about whatever had upset them.

"That intolerant, slimy, twat-face!" Hermione exclaimed furiously as she paced in circles before her. "That git-weed! That... That revolting weasel!"

"Mione, calm down," Ella told her warningly. "I can't understand what's wrong if all you're doing is shouting creative nicknames for Draco." The only time Hermione used such colorful language was when she was referring to the Slytherin boy, who had picked on her since the first day of school.

The trio went on to explain how during their first Care of Magical Creatures class that morning, Hagrid introduced them to the hippogriff Buckbeak. Ella was already well acquainted with the half-griffin-half-horse. She was one of his most trusted flyers. She didn't play Quidditch and was admittedly far too terrified to get on a broom, but she loved flying with animals. She had ridden a thestral once, too, though she was unable to see them. Hagrid had needed to assist her with that one.

After Harry successfully greeted and flew with Buckbeak. Draco got up in his face and taunted him. His actions and comments provoked the hippogriff, and he had attacked the Draco. Draco was now being treated in the hospital wing, whining over his injured arm that wasn't even broken, acting as if it was more than a single deep scratch. Buckbeak hadn't even reached bone.

Still, Draco's reaction was so intense that there was no doubt his father, the infamous Lucius Malfoy, would be getting involved. And that wasn't good news for Buckbeak. There was no telling what this would mean for him.

Lovella was in a distraught mood for the rest of the day, worrying over the fate of Buckbeak. It was only the first day and something had already gone wrong. When Remus checked on her with concern, she assured him she was just tired. Considering how late they had been setting up the night before, not to mention her meeting the dog - though he didn't know that part – he didn't bother her again about her distant expression.

Luckily, Defense Against the Dark Arts went smoothly. Remus kept the day simple and easy, letting each period out early since all they did was introductions and a general review of the units the class would be covering. She hadn't had to do much except help pass out textbooks and materials. For the most part, she just got to observe how a first day of class was organized and what made it effective.

Remus was a likeable professor, that much was clear. He was friendly with all the students, answering any questions they had clearly and with patience. He met confusion with empathy, and attitude with order. And he was funny, cracking small jokes and laughing whenever he found another student amusing.
