Well it's too bad

It's too bad

It's too bad

You're married, to me

"You're the hope of our family. Do you want our status to fall?" Hiroshi Minoshima, [name]'s father, questioned furiously. He was a calculating and sly man, knowing just where to push so it hurt. Her mother was visiting a rehabilitation center at that time, having a sickness inherited by her parents. It was curable though, but the process of healing was truly a bigger price to pay.

[Name] was only thirteen at that time, barely a teenager and already having to carry the burden of a forced marriage on her back. But this, this was her only job as a woman in the Taisho era. She was but a woman, who was only expected to cook and take care of kids. She held no other value, not even education was granted for her. Unlike her brother, who had everything he desired with a mere flick of his wrist when he was growing up.

However, his lack of love for his homeland made him escape the country, only to be presumably killed, as her parents told her.

"But father-!"

"You two are friends, are you not?" He snapped, scowling at her act of defiance and trying his best to restrain himself from laying his hands on her. He didn't want to beat his child. If a word ever got out, it would surely cause only harm to their names.

"..."

"You'll get married to him the day you reach the age of fifteen, and that's final. Until then, the two of you shall be engaged."

Isamu and her were indeed friends when they were little, until their family had to move to the other side of Japan. They continued exchanging letters, but after a while, [name] noticed something off about his behavior. Some obsessive signs she didn't fully pick up on till they got married.

If only she knew better at that time, maybe she would follow in her older brother's footsteps.

"Miss! Please wake up! Are you alright?! Breathe, please, breathe!" A loud, booming voice shouted, shaking the bloody figure of an unnaturally pretty woman by her shoulders. Her hair color was strange, even though he couldn't clearly see the most of it, since it was covered in the red liquid, which stained not only her, but the whole interior of the cottage.

Her head was spinning. She didn't even remember for how long she's been there, passed out and dreaming of her past day after day. Her consciousness returned after another few restless shakes from the man, rotten smell invading her nostrils like a parasite as she could only bring herself to outwardly cringe at the putrid scent.
